Shanks took cover near Carex. He was scared for the first time. This confident, very notorious boy had crumbled into a frightened teenager, just like the majority of the Arena. ”Carex, I don’t want to die...” It was a stupid thing to say, because it sounded like something every other person would think in the Hunger Games. But Shanks felt that by saying this, he’d make a point. Others would shrink back in fear or just plain out attack, but the District 4 tribute would make his motives apparent to the Capitol and all of Panem. He wanted to survive.

The pig swept down and landed a deep gash on his right thigh. He screamed in pain, throwing his arms around his leg, holding in the blood. Tears rolled down his cheeks, cutting trails on his dirt covered face. ”Ugh!” He scoured his eyes and turn the attention away from his injury and back to the hunk of meat flying around. Shanks grabbed his trident and brought it down as the pig flew by once again.

Carex lined up the angle perfectly, hitting the beast in the shoulder with the arrow. It wasn't soon afterward it began to claw at his biceps. He let out a cry of agony, but hw wouldn't let it get him down. Shanks attacked the flying boar, cutting it's forehead. It definitely looked a lot weaker, and he planned on finishing.

Wincing at the pain, Carex pulled the string back and fired away. His stomach rumbled, and he knew his next meal was not far away.

The pig flew down again. It was dying. But it was going down with a fight. Shanks didn't expect the attack. He thought it had grown tired of picking on some short kid and took interest in Carex. Oh no, this swine strongly disliked the boy.

Shanks went to take cover when the pig flew by, squealing and extending out it's clawing arms. It was then the boy snatched his trident and blocked the attack. He felt the sickening jolt as the impact of the pig charged up the weapon. He took a heavy breath and struck down.
