Castle Ruined
Mayoral Candidate Speech
Castle takes her place on the stage, a smile ever-present upon her face. She was confident, although a tad bit nervous. Then again, when it came to public speaking, didn't most people at least get a little bit nervous? Surely they did. Her nervousness was minimal, however, and she could be sure that no one gathered here for her speech would notice it.
When the chatter of the crowd died down, she began to speak to those gathered in front of her.
"Hello, everyone," she began. "I'm quite happy to see all of you here today. For those of you who don't know, my name is Castle Ruined."
She paused for a moment, as there was some chatter in the crowd upon hearing her name, likely because of the surname she carried- one that tributes of the District had carried in the past. She didn't allow the chatter to go on for too long, though. She then continued on with what she had to say.
"Some of you may remember me from when I ran for mayor ten years ago, during the seventy-fifth election. I was much younger then, and I've learned a lot in the years since," she explained. "While some of the things I wish to do for this District may have changed, many things have not. I still wish to work to help those in poverty in our District. If I am elected mayor, I will put programs in place to help those in need."
She clears her throat.
"I also still plan to work to open more job positions for those in the District. I want to make sure that everyone who needs or wants a job can get one," she said. "As for some new ideas that I have for District Five: I'd like to help us grow more as a community. I'd like our District's citizens to get to know each other a bit better through events and other such things that can bring us together, especially when we need it most."
Like during the Games, she thought, but she didn't say it. It was time to wrap things up now.
"I hope that when the time comes to vote for mayor this year, you'll keep me in mind. Should you have any questions, always feel free to ask me. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day, and thank you for coming."
