Fingers strummed a few chords on the ancient instrument. The lyre was beaten up, dented in a few spots, and had lost its luster, but the boy looked past these flaws and saw what previous beauty it held; it made him smile a lonely smile. Tight strings squeaked a melody with a sweet ring.
Dantis was standing slanted against a house, one foot against the wall. His fingers were slightly dirty from the day's work; his eyes glimmered with futuristic hope, something only he kept deep.
