Everything had went downhill since Zuka had left District 11. The voices in her head were growing louder, and continuing to tell her whatever to do. Yes, they did help her, but they just made her insane. Every sound throbbed in her head, and the voices usually made everything else barely audible. It was torture, yes that was the word. They caused her to suffer; caused her to curl up in her own little ball and not pay attention to anything else.
Zuka could've stayed in her large room all day if it wasn't for her stylists convincing her that training had already started. She had been woken up by their consistent nagging and yelling, annoyed by her behavior she had been revealing all week. "I'm going! Just shut the hell up!" she had finally yelled, throwing the covers off of her skinny and bare form. However, they were not surprised by her yell and cursing, they already had grown used to it.
She threw on a pair of stretchy pants that fit tight to her long legs, a black tanktop, and her black lace-up boots. Without eating breakfast, and without talking to anyone, she made her way to the elevator that would bring her down to the training center. It was a fast ride, not long enough for her to admire every button that was placed on the wall.
Zuka stood awkwardly as the doors slid open, revealing the other tributes that had already started. She was thrity minutes late, a big no-no. She smirked coldly and stepped out, taking in everything that she was seeing before her. The other tributes were at the many stations, trying their best to show-off to everyone. None would impress her, though. She would not allow herself to be impressed by these idiots.
"You're late" she heard a lady say, her tone bitter and very strict. Zuka laughed and turned around on the end of her toes "you're lucky I'm even here" Zuka said with a sneer, then walked away without a reply. She obviously didn't care what the trainers, stylists, and anyone in general would think about her.
Without looking at what station she was going to, her feet led her to the firemaking station. It was empty except for the man that was sitting in a small chair. "Finally, someone chooses my station" he said, his voice raspy but strong. Zuka rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest as he began to explain what they were going to be doing first.
She really wished that she could be at the Blades station. There was no other feeling that was similiar to holding a knife. It brought back great, but haunting memories that she craved almost all the time. Even the thought of it sent chills up her arms, causing a thin smile to appear across her face. "That's great! I'm glad to see you're excited" the trainer said, misinterpretting her smile for being excited about make a stupid fire.
Zuka snorted loudly, rather rudely actually, and kneeled down next to the fire. She hadn't listened to anything the man had said, causing her mind to be completely blank as she stared at the sticks of wood laying on the ground. She sighed slowly, scratching her head in confusion.What the hell Zuka?! I'm trying to keep you alive, and you repay me by dozing off and not paying attention? You're so stupid sometimes, you know that right? Just ask the trainer how to make another fire, who cares if he's annoyed, it's not like you've never annoyed someone before. And I swear, pay attention for now on, I'm tired of you acting like a little two-year old!
"Shut up will you! All you do is yell and I'm tired of it!" Zuka yelled, not caring what anyone would think. Her yell carried a far ways off, causing many people to stare at her cautiously. The voices laughed at her frustration, obviously not shutting up like she had asked. She clenched her hands into tight fists, letting her gaze travel to the firemaking tutor.
"I didn't listen to anything you said" she admitted, smirking slightly at his cautious and confused expression. He nodded slightly, and restarted what he had told her before. This time, Zuka obediently listened, and actually succeeded in making a fire after several long minutes. The man offered a thin smile, and nodded approvingly.
Zuka looked at her work, deciding to stay a little longer and work on another one. She might as well listen to the voices, despite how annoying and cruel they were. Picking up more sticks, she layed the down, completely absorbed in her work and barely listening to anything else but the voices that rang through her ears.
