Demeter is considered tall for her age and gender. She stands at an impressive 6 foot 1, allowing her body fat to distribute itself evenly throughout her figure. Her long legs are the reason behind her extended height, and the rest of her body remains at an average size. Although she rarely judges herself based upon appearance, her peers have labeled her as attractive. Both men and women have used complimentary and derogatory terms to describe her beauty. Her slim figure is enough to catch the eyes of fellow peers, but it is the fact that she chooses to remain fit that boosts the appeal. Rather than remaining a scrawny, defenseless girl, Demeter spends some of her spare time working on her fitness. Mainly she has used it to strengthen her abdominal muscles. Her flat stomach has been replaced with gentle ripples of muscle. It also keeps her posture correct.

Demeter’s skin tone is between the lines bordering both tan and pale. She is not pale, but she is also not tan. Depending on her exposure to the sun, this may change. However, she spends extended amounts of time outside and inside, including underground when she is mining. This causes her skin tone to be evened out most of the time. She has never really cared for skin color, so this is not an issue for her.

Demeter’s most notable feature is her wavy, golden mane. It is the one quality that brings the rest of the good features together. Without the golden locks that dangle past her shoulder blades, her complexion would merely be considered “average”, and average was not something she could afford. She spends extended amounts of time perfecting her hair for this very reason. She never plans to cut it, dye it, or alter it in any fashion. She is satisfied with its current state.

Demeter has a well sculpted face. Her eyebrows are thin, her nose is small, and her lips are the perfect shape, color, and size. Her teeth are white and straight, for the most part, though her canines are a bit too pointed for her taste. The color of her eyes is a bit dull. They are jade green with just a small hint of blue. Nothing impressive or distinguishing.

Her choice of clothing is very precise. She wears tight fitted and revealing clothing to emphasize her curves and attract the attention of potential clients. She has no preference for color or material, though leather seems to catch the attention of many wandering eyes.

Demeter is a difficult shell to crack. Over the years she has constructed a wall that barricades her emotions from the outside world. From a distance she appears cold, conserved, and quiet. With her height, she is almost intimidating when she passes the streets or the hallways of school. Ninety five percent of the time she is wearing either a scowl or an unpleasant frown. There are only two circumstances in which one can witness her smiling, and happiness is not a contributing factor. One of her “smiles” is her signature smirk. A smirking Demeter usually indicates that there will be a sarcastic remark and/or insult escaping her lips. The second smile is a smile only seen by paying customers, and it is not a real smile. It is a fabricated smile used to trick and manipulate her clients. One can label it her ‘seductive’ smile. However, it is merely an act to appease the customers.

From years of practice, Demeter has become an expert actress. To ensure her survival and receive what is desired, she will use this skill to manipulate others. Whether she is acting like the sweet, innocent girl she will never be, or if she is pretending to have an attraction to a very unappealing male, one can almost always find her demonstrating her two-faced personality. Her acts do not fool everybody, but that is not something she is concerned about. There will always be enemies, but then there will always be the naïve ones who fall for it.

Demeter can hardly even be considered ‘polite’. In school, she refuses to speak to anyone unless business is involved. She does not openly approach others unless business calls. When others greet her or acknowledge her without a hint relating to her business, she merely blows them off, either ignoring them completely or flashing a weak gesture in return, as if she wanted to give everybody the cold shoulder. This is somewhat true. Demeter was not built upon emotions. She does not rely on happiness to live. Her sole purpose is to survive, whether she enjoys the methods necessary to do so or not. This does not mean that she has no motivation, though. Even a girl like Demeter has dreams. The dream to improve her lifestyle and ditch her current situation has been a long desired goal. It is what provides her with the energy and patience to deal with her peers. Her willpower is strong, even when her spirit has almost been crushed to pieces.

The only people Demeter shows the slightest shred of kindness to are her grandparents and her coworkers in the mines. Underground, reputations and lives no longer matter. Everyone is exactly the same when they are in the mines, wearing matching outfits and sharing the grime that smears on their clothes and hair. There is nobody to judge Demeter there. In the mines, every goal is the same, and that goal is to earn money for survival.

To put it simply, Demeter was an accident. Her parents were together only once and she was the end result. The couple never married, but agreed to live together until the child was born. Her mother soon learned of her intimate partner’s violent behavior, and after only six months of caring for the child, she abandoned them. Where she ran away to is a mystery. For Demeter this only meant one thing--That she was the abusive man’s new target.

Merwin. That was the last name of her father, and naturally she inherited it. Demeter Merwin is her true name, and her old identity. Her father made a hobby out of fondling her at will, whether she accepted it or not. It became a routine, and it turned old very quickly. After puberty the attacks grew worse, and by age thirteen she was at her breaking point. She considered running away, despite her intense fears of death or capture, but in the end the situation fixed itself. She returned home from school one day to find her father missing. All of his belongings had vanished. There were no traces of him left. He simply vanished into thin air, and Demeter was glad.

Unable to fend for herself, she sought out other family members. She managed to find her grandparents from her mother’s side, who were not reluctant to adopt her. She discovered that her mother’s last name was “Glory,” and found it much more suitable than that man’s last name, so she decided to change her name. Out with the old, in with the new.

Life with her grandparents was simple and peaceful. Unfortunately, because of their old ages and decrepit bodies, they were unable to work and earn enough money to supply food. This forced Demeter into working in the mines to support the three of them. Her wages were not enough, however, and she realized that if she did not find another way to earn money, her grandparents might starve. The last thing she wanted was to be left alone again.

Around this time, boys began to notice her. They approached her in the hallways at school, flirted with her, and even tried to ask her out. She would date only to find something to replace her misery, but of course, it never worked. This is when her business began. One boy offered her money if she would sleep with him. Miserable and desperate to feed her guardians, she accepted, and then her new business bloomed. She is not proud of it, nor does she brag about it. It is a secret to everybody but herself and her clients. She knows that if she were to be caught, the consequences could be dangerous to herself and her grandparents. This will not stop her, though. The combination of mining and selling her body has provided her with enough money to keep the three of them alive and healthy. If she were to stop, things would fall downhill quickly. Why risk that?
