[Day 2] Epee Round 1: Humber vs. Aubergine

EPEE ROUND 1: HUMBER VS. AUBERGINE

Welcome to the Individual Epee tournament of the second Panem Olympic Games! The fencing strips are located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The three fencing events (Epee, Sabre, and Foil) are tournaments, which follow brackets. Each match will have its own thread, which will be posted by me. Feel free to roleplay your character fencing their opponent for each touch and then paste the code [*roll range="1-4"] without the asterisk into your post and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. This corresponds to the number of points your competitor scored in a row, and will be added to your total. All fencing bouts go to fifteen touches and follow turn order, as a regular fight using the combat system would.

The competitor who reaches fifteen points first wins the bout and moves on to the next round. As the bouts finish, the winners will be recorded here; when all the first round bouts have been completed, the bracket will be updated and the next round will start.

N I R V A N A A U B E R G I N E Every ounce of her wants to rip someone's head off and feed it to the sharks in the ocean. Her match with Zeus had been a joke, except it wasn't her that was laughing. No, instead it was her being laughed at. Zeus was no more than a washed up alcoholic, and she swore she could smell the pungent odor of alcohol even when she escaped from his proximity and, with a cloud of shame over her head, returned to her room.  But sleep had brought with it something equivalent to a phoenix, and although she wasn't being born from her own fucking ashes (which, when she looked back at it was a quite fucked up detail), she was ready to begin anew. So, perhaps that's the reason why she plastered a delicate, cocky grin onto her face as she received the sword she'd be using to spar with. She was facing some bitch named Uriel, and the cocky grin slipped from her face when she realized Uriel Hum whatever the fuck her name was was a guy. He was a wash-up - "Uriel Humber,"

Never would he live up to Leon, with his damned crown, or Gabrielle in the hospital bed, or even Catherine as she disintegrated into the collection of sea-salt she was born from. The bench took him throughout the first epee round into his own name being called (they pronounced it wrong too, err-re-ahl, but it was fitting in the least) and leaving it felt like leaving the barrel that was his gut on it too. Heartbeats thump thump thump'd through to the veins in his wrists like a bass in sync with his soles pounding into the ground.

"versus Nirvana Aubergine."

"Nirva' heard of her," he whispered under his tongue once his foot hit mat, muted with the chuckle dying mid-throat. The needle in his clumsy hands felt awkward, as he expected; he'd barely touched a sword in two years, and if Nereus hadn't signed the both of them up against his will he'd still be asleep.

"Okay, you might win this match just because I might be on the ground laughing the whole time, Uriel."

A spare scoff a good two octaves lower than this girl's hysterics slipped from his mouth at the idea of him winning this match; he sucked at fencing and its multiple off springs back even when he wasn't a fuck-ass with anything larger than a wine bottle, the odds of actually doing anything worth while in front of literally the entirety of Panem were as existent as this girl's eyebrows.

"Of course, i'm kidding. Execute yourself, Uriel."

A second scoff and the first swipe of his sword.

"Suck my ass, kid." He exhaled.

N I R V A N A A U B E R G I N E "Suck my ass, kid." She scowls, and hits him once. And almost immediately he hits her back, sword gently poking her mid-section. With each breath she takes she feels as if her fight against Zeus has been put on replay, and as she stares him down with every icy bit of spite and hate she can muster a certain type of flame erupts in her stomach. But not one of those weird flames of embarassment, no. This is one of hatred, one of the desperation to win and bring pride not to that fucktit Viggo but to herself. And, if she manages to bring any sort of medal home, perhaps she'll loop it  around her own father's neck and strangle him to death with it, that would be a fitting end to her long (but quite literally painless) story. "Thot," she said between the grid of her mask before she pointed twice.

He was losing, not by a huge margin give, but it was fitting; Uriel Humber, losing once again. It didn't help that he was literally the only district four even in this event, and that this was his sole event. Breaking form he rubbed his chest to compensate for the two matching strikes as he stared hard enough to freeze a bitch.

"The hell is a thot?" Nirvana couldn't have been more than twelve - how was he getting beat by a damn sixth grader. She probably's never done anything besides sword's working in her tiny life-span, that's something Uriel would put money on.

"You know what," and in sync with the words he flicked his wrist to bring his needle back to the girl. "I bet you'd take 420 to a whole new level." Odds are, he could at least hit her ass once again.

She lands one two three four hits on him, the grin she's plastered onto her face this whole time only growing wider and wider with each successive hit. This is perfect, this is exactly how her match with Zeus should have gone.

But it hadn't been like this.

She'd been weary, tired, off, and she'd paid the price. Oh, had she paid the price for not wanting it enough. Yes, it came in the form of a loss.

Defeat.

Shame.

And she wouldn't let that happen again. Ha, no! She wouldn't be defeated by this wonderful piece of shit in front of her, given a sword and gear as if it would actually do him any good. Whatever, he could get all the help he wanted, whether it be in puffy gear or a fancy sword. It wouldn't do him any good.

A needle jabs into his chest four more times and his weak one swing back pretty much summed up this fight; he knew he wasn't gonna get a medal from the second Nereus informed of their last second entry, to say the least. Yet with the twig in his hand he felt a chance - he felt adrenaline kickstarting against this girl. Uriel knew more than to get his hopes up for a medal of course, he was still shit with a weapon and shit with anything other than dim lights, but getting to the quarter finales was better than sixteenth place. Whatever pleasure he'd get that came with the five seconds after beating this lil' bitch wasn't worth a dime, but damn would it be great.
