[googlefont="Raleway:400"]Why are we here?
The Hunger Games RPG tutoring program was established not long after the development of the site. The goal of the program is to offer unique tutoring services to members of the RPG. We, the tutors, exist to help anyone who feels they could improve in their roleplaying and/or writing skills. The tutors are the ones with the pretty pale green names - feel free to PM us if you have any questions about roleplaying or the site in general. We’re here to help and above all ensure that your roleplaying experience on the site is as pleasant as it can possibly be.
What kinds of tutoring are available?
There are four basic types of tutoring available to members.
Public Roleplay Tutoring. This is the most common type of tutoring. We cover everyday roleplay skills in a public board. To utilize this kind of tutoring, all you have to do is post in the board.
Private Roleplay Tutoring. This type of tutoring exists for members who may be a bit more shy. While there is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about when it comes to roleplay tutoring (everyone has done tutoring, just ask), if you prefer for your tutoring to be private, PM one of us saying so. We will then give you a password to the private tutoring board, where you can post your thread. Please do not spread this password around - it’s kept private for a reason!
Hunger Games Roleplay Tutoring. Members who have tributes should post here, even if they’re just asking for a basic touch-up. It helps the tutors keep organized. We can also specifically focus on roleplaying in the Games - just let us know in your post.
Live Roleplay Tutoring. Live tutoring is our newest form of tutoring. It’s done in a c-box (similar to the one on the site) or over some other form of instant messaging. Live tutoring is faster and allows for a more personal connection to the tutor you’re working with. To request live tutoring, post in the live tutoring board and a tutor will contact you.
What should I include in my first tutoring post?
Please include your prefered name, what you’d like help with, and a sample of your writing in your first tutoring post. This allows the tutors to determine which of us will be your best match, and generally speeds up the process. If you can, try to be specific about what you’d like help with. PLEASE NOTE: If you do not include these things in your first post, we will ask you for them before we begin the session.
Who are the tutors?
We’re so glad you asked!
Chaos has been a member of HGRPG since 2010 and a tutor since 2011. She's a Canadian college student with fabulous hair and a love of horror movies, good books, and music. She can often be found deeply hating her chemistry homework, getting excited about ancient cultures ( specifically the Vikings and the Romans), or playing video games. She's always had a special love for creative writing and enjoys testing the limits of storytelling. Her writing style is fluid and poetic with strong descriptions and unique word choice. Her strengths include imagery, poetic expression, and metaphor/similes. She especially enjoys live tutoring, so let her know if you're interested!
Hiya! My name’s Stare. I’ve been a tutor since 2011 and a member since 2009. I currently reside in Wisconsin (no, I do not wear cheese on my head) and am attending college. Music is my escape, my favorite color is green, I love the ocean, I have a horrible sweet tooth, and I often bake cupcakes, brownies, or other yummy treats. I’m addicted to breath mints. When I see tall things, I want to climb on top of them. I also fall off of anything that can be fallen off of. You'll probably find me agonizing over my favorite movies/books/television shows. I've been writing since fourth grade and sometimes I'm silly and think I have time to write actual novels. I adore writing character histories/backstories, oneshots, romances, and sibling relationships. My tutoring strengths are imagery, metaphor, and mood/theme. Shoot me a PM if you ever need anything, I love helping people!
Rosetta has been a Tutor on the site since 2012 and especially loves tutoring new writers. She likes to help writers with imagery and emotion—especially those who are still in their early writing stages. Having seen her own writing come so far, she wants to extend what she has learned from her never-ceasing journey to improve her writing to other members. Outside of regular tutoring, she is always happy to help with Games character development and death posts. Other than writing, Rosetta enjoys waterbending, singing in the shower, reading, video games and would eat all the pizza in the world if they let her.
Aloha! I'm Zoë, and I've been a RP Tutor since May 2012 and a member of HGRPG since December 2011. Currently I'm a university student living in New Zealand, probably procrastinating an assignment by watching television shows, writing or browsing the internet. When I'm not living on the internet I enjoy photography and taking photos of my friends & our adventures, eating tuna-avocado sushi and drinking energy drinks, watching movies, going for long drives with my friends, reading novels (and attempting to start writing my own), painting my nails and dying my hair. I don't bite (usually, it's very hard to make me angry) and love meeting new people!
My writing style is a bit of 'write down everything you can think of and then maybe read it over' mixed with 'is this even relevant???' and a sprinkle of 'i'm probably over-using commas.' I write with all 3 POVs and personally think my writing strengths are emotion, imagery and dealing with internal conflict.
Heya, I'm shrimp! I'm a huge fan of art, photography, singing (I'm currently a bass in one of my university's a cappella groups), acting and Instagram. I’m an art and computer science major in school and I’ve been writing on and off for 5 years. I always love developing characters and creating themes/motifs to incorporate into prose (especially colors). Emotive one-liners and world-building are some of my favorite things ever – send me a PM or tag me in your tutoring thread if you ever have any questions!
