Just Don't Die

Kirito could feel his body sway and moan with the desire for nutrients. Already after being in the Capitol for such a small amount of time he had grown use to normal times of feasting. Already he had lost that permanent grumble the resonated from his gut. In a way Kirito felt sad about the loss of his constant hunger, it was as though a thing he had of home had flitted away without any attempt to stop it. However he did thoroughly enjoy the fact he didn't feel like he had to act like a barbarian around food any longer. In a way the Capitol was transforming him into a new breed of gentlemen. 

The aromas of the dining hall scent joyous waves through Kirito's nostrils as he entered. All around him freshly prepared deliquesces steamed and the coolest of drinks were poured. It was a gorgeous sight, one Kirito was sure didn't exist anywhere other than the Capitol. Which only meant that while Kirito had the time he was going to enjoy it because who knew that the hell was waiting within the shimmering walls of the arena.

It didn't take Kirito long to fill his platter with a bowl of beef stew, a few bread rolls from the district seven, eleven, and twelve, a bowl of the finest fruit, and a glass of some orange fizzing liquid. However now would be Kirito's biggest challenge.  Where to sit. Unlike many of the other tributes he didn't have a district partner so he had no real connections with the other 23. Lucky for him he spotted an abandoned table in the corner and headed to it. As he took his seat Kirito lifted his glass to his lips and let the fizzing flavor burst like a symphony within his mouth. Even though he was alone he didn't feel entirely bad, he still got to eat what he wanted.

The array of cuisine that lays so beautifully out upon a clothed table. It was surely a blessing in the eyes of those who were more of the less fortunate. Meanwhile if you're raised in the higher up Districts, this were just a little more placed upon the table than what they'd normally receive back home. Or so I would assume, seeing as they're all well fed. To me, this was a true curse in disguise as a five star meal, that would make our bodies accustomed in no time. Feeding us endless supplies of food, which back home would be enough to feed the whole District. And while we're all full to our brim from such a luxury, we're thrown into the arena, with nothing but empty stomachs, begging for more.

It was with careful thought that I chose to not grab a plethora of food to put on my platter, but just enough to keep the same feeling in my stomach. I had been surviving long enough with the bare minimum, and this wasn't going to shift me in the direction to become greedy. Much of the food placed before us were things that each District had transported to the Capitol. There were things placed on the platters that I wouldn't even know what they were or what to call them, and I wouldn't know if they're pleasing or atrocious.

With a quick hand I snatched up a roll of bread and some meat from the table and wandered away from it. A glass of nothing more than water accompanied with it. As I traverse through the room full of tributes and trainers it was almost impossible to find a place to sit with everyone so scattered among each other. It was until my eyes scanned over a lone boy, sitting at a table all by himself that I'd felt sorry for him. In all honesty he probably didn't mind it, but it was in my best mind to keep him company. Gripping my plate I make twists and turns through the crowd until I reach his proximity, with a genuine smile that crosses my lips.

"May I sit here with you?"
