Attention Members! Would you like to contribute to the 73rd Hunger Games from a Gamemaker's standpoint? Here's your chance to contribute!

Come up with a "muttation" or other genetically altered wild beast using the following form, and reply to this thread with your finished product. The best mutts may be included in the 73rd or other future Hunger Games. There is no limit to how many mutts you may submit, so feel free to post more as they come to you (although remember to edit your post rather than double-posting if someone else has posted before you) 

If your muttation is used, you will receive credit for your little beastie on the Muttation Directory thread that will be present during the Games, as well as on the Site Wiki's Muttation Page. Note that the Gamemakers (staff) reserve the right to make minor changes to your creations.

Notes: Mutts involving humans will not be used, and mutts created initially "to kill people," "to destroy people," or "to torture people" will also have to be explained very well to be used. Be more creative than that! 

You may want to refer to the Arena Map for climate-based inspiration. For the 73rd we are looking for, of course, Dante's Inferno/mythical themed mutts. What is a Dante's Inferno like you may ask? Hell (basically), the 9 Circles of Hell. It's pretty fuckin' miserable. You could do a lot with said climate, we're pretty much giving you free reign on this, go nuts!

Name of Mutt: Gold Shlosher
Brief Summary: The color of gold, Gold Shlosher's look like baby crocodiles. In the capitol they were originally meant as a form of advertisement. Advertisers would use a Shloser's brightly colored body to attract attention and have it hand out pamphlets from their mouths. Usually, Shlosher's would have little gold bumps for teeth so that people would not be afraid of reaching down near their mouths to grab a pamphlet, but now they have their teeth sharpened to razor points to fit the games' obvious needs.

Name of Mutt: Little Devil

Brief Summary: This devilish creation is the size of a chimanzee, if a chimp had the head and tail of a goat, as well as bat-like wings. It was originally created to transport deliveries by air, carrying them on its back or in its arms, with the horns on its goat head meant to serve as a deterrent to all who would seek to intercept its deliveries. However, its creators soon found that its body weight made it impossible to achieve heights greater than five feet off the ground, making it a danger to passerby in the street, who might find themselves accidentally scratched by a wing or, worse, impaled by a horn. Unable to think of another alternative, the scientists brought the monstrous creations to the Gamemakers, thinking perhaps they could find a better use for them.

Name of Mutt: Glug

Brief Summary: These giant gluttonous slugs, about a foot wide and three feet long, were originally meant to be used as garbage disposal units in landfills. They would melt trash down using their poisonous secretions, then eat up the remaining muck, leaving behind no trace of the original substance. Unfortunately, their endless appetite, coupled with their fast reproduction rate, soon left them without enough garbage to eat. They started searching for other sources of nourishment, which caused great concern for Capitol citizens. Ultimately, the slugs were rendered sterile, and while a few were left in Capitol landfills, the rest were moved underground, where they hungered for the chance to satiate their appetites again.

Name of Mutt: Ara (Plural form: Arai)

Brief Summary: This mutation has the appearance similar to a raven bird. It has feathers as dark as a black night and the same goes for its beak, talons but its eyes are in an extraordinary golden color. The creature was created by the Capital for daily, harmless things at first. It served as an alarm clock and pet for the citizens. The birds were tamed to be friendly and its owner had a remote control that could set the time when it will let out a frightening screeching sound. It didn't become popular at all. Most people were startled by their screeches which were eerily similar to screams of agony and sometimes, plain high-screams. Thus, it was then abandoned. But, it got into the hands of the Game Makers and they had an idea. The creatures were then captured again and upgraded into something more terrifying than before. The birds were now capable to sense weapons and actions of human beings. It depended on which weapon a person was carrying and how lethal it was. If it was lethal to them, the birds will let out an ear-piercing scream that could temporary blind and it will be permanent if the person encountered with a group of them. They also use their sharp talons to attack and peck.

Name: Hermes

Summary:

Hermes is a genetically modified hybrid between a eagle, and a Woodpecker. Hermes is a fast and agile bird that has razor sharp talons that can leave a deep and poisoned wound. Hermes have almost perfect eye sight, and can spot and smell a target from a mile away. The Hermes can smell blood dripping like a shark, and can go to the target quickly and quietly in a short amount of time. The Hermes are weak to Loud Noises, and will quickly retreat when hearing a loud noise. The Hermes is dangerous enough, but it can also re-create a attack that something or someone did to it. Like if a tribute swings a sword at it, The Hermes wings its wing that has a sharp thorn like thing on it and re-creates the exact way it swung or thrusted at the Hermes.

Name: Aphrodite

Summary:

Aphrodite's are beautiful horses that lure people in with their majestic beauty. The horses use their horn they have on top of their heads, to scewer people and eat their bodies to regain fuel they have lost to kill something. Aphrodites are extremley fast and agile, and have a sense of knowing where to go. Aphrodites's are pure white, and have a golden horn that is sharper than a well taken care of sword. Their horn goes straight through their victim, and then they shake their horn to open up the wound and then they eat the remains. Aphrodite's, are weak against fire, and cannot use their beauty when their is flame in the midst.

Name: Poseidon

Summary:

Poseidon's are small fish with teeth that are razor sharp, and can bite through
metal in a matter of minutes. The fish are hard to see unless you are actually in the water. The fish can also smell human flesh and have a impecable sense of hearing. Posedion's are really fast and really hard to catch or see. It is warned people should proceed in caution before handling one of these. The fish are weak against lighting and other electrical things.

Name of Mutt: Midust Mites (pronounced like Midas) / Midust Queen Mite

Brief Summary: From afar, Midust Mites look like a single shimmering cloud of gold, swirling and undulating like a school of fish or flock of starlings. However, once you get up close, it's clear to see that the cloud is really comprised of thousands of microscopic bugs with beautiful golden wings and heads, orbiting a glowing golden Queen in perfect uniform movement. Initially, the Midust Mites were designed to be decorative - released at the beginning of an event or party, Midust Mites can give any room a regal feel, reflecting the lights in gold flickers and lending the whole space a truly heavenly quality. However, after one banquet that went disastrously wrong, the Midust Mites were relinquished to storage: the infinitesimal creatures entered the guests on their breaths, closing up their windpipes and causing gold-tinted asphyxiation in mere minutes. The Queen herself, who acts as a beacon for the worker mites, was reported by several guests to have dealt out bites, drinking their blood until her golden head was tinted a rosey hue. Finally, in an arena with a bubbling pool of molten gold, the Midust Mites were ready to be used again with a malicious purpose. Whether tributes think they're hallucinating the glowing gold haze due to some kind of gold-blindness, or whether they're simply drawn to that yellow hue because of its beauty, the Midust Mites are sure to cause them breathing problems - and maybe blindness - unless the tributes manage to fell their queen.

Cry Baby:
A rather demon like creature that cries out like injured or scared children and lures it's victims into a scary attack.: [Originally used to lure and capture rebels by immitating the cries of children, they were modified for the games to be more viscous], looks like a harmless child until the victim is close enough, when attacking it has blood red eyes, claws, and fangs. Not particularly smart, but it waits until it comes across a lone tribute and begins to cry. The cries can be that of an infant, a tributes sibling, or even another tribute. It often doesn't kill,as its original design was to disable so the target could be captured.

Name of Mutt: Vampiric Flickerhound

Brief Summary: These dog-like entities were initially bred for guard dogs for dangerous areas like rioting Districts or the forests surrounding Panem. Created to look like a child's worst nightmare - and perhaps an adult's too - they are the brown of old blood and coated in flames that lick along their backs, paws, and ruff. Their tails are entirely made of fire, and shrink or grow depending on their strength and their surroundings. Shortly after discovering these creatures, a few rogue members of the Districts captured them and began using and breeding them for dog fighting. It took years for the Capitol to catch on, but when they did they forbade the Flickerhounds to be used any longer and ordered the round up of every existing creature, needing a door-to-door search of all homes. Now, given to the muttation designers for the Hunger Games, these terrible beasts have been given a few updates. First, the flames have been made hotter, and the instincts of vampire bats inserted into their already violence-bent minds. What was created were a pack of blood-thirsty, unrelenting, monsters that were adapted to caves.

Other: A couple ideas for mechanics...
1. As they have bat genes, the would be able to use a form of echolocation to navigate the dark. As such, they would always be able to know exactly where anything living in the caves is.
2. Since they are coated in flames, they do provide some light. GMs discretion for whether this would negate rolls for targeting, but something to keep in mind.
3. When attacking with claws, there could be a minor fire damage roll (say maximum of 4 damage) to accompany the knife roll.

Name of Mutt: Graeae (Three Blind Swans)
Brief Summary: It finds itself deep rooted in the legends of a civilization long since dead. No one really knows where it came from, or what its true purpose was. Some say it is the by product of a mad man's imagination, abandoned just as easily as it was thought up. Others say it was created out of urban legends, bearing resemblance to the tale of three blind sisters, sharing one eye, one soul. It was found in the wilderness outside of District Thirteen, peacefully making its way around a blackened lake. It has the body of a swan, feathers sharpened into spikes, ruffling along its body. The regal elegance stops at the neck, however, as its neck splits into three different heads, all ending with the head of an eel, with a jaw full of sharpened fangs. Initial reports showed that the creature was extremely aggressive, shooting its feathers at bystanders or snapping out with one of its heads. However, upon closer examination of the mutt scientists discovered a complex system of muscles that put the mutt at a distinct advantage. Because of the contraction of muscles, only one eye on a single head could be opened at one time, giving the mutt limited eyesight. However, when it does strike, the results are sure to be disastrous. 
Poision, Edible, or Neither? Probably not edible. Okay so I think playing around with the fact that it can only really see with one eye would be cool. So like, it could attack three times per round, but two of those attacks (the closed eyes) would have to roll a 2 sided die to see if it can even locate or hit a trib. The open eye doesn't have to roll the dice. 



Name of Mutt: Charon
Brief Summary: The uniqueness of this mutt comes from the fact that it was created by rebels, not Capitol scientists. They sit medium sized, the body of a slow loris with a dark grey color scheme. Their eyes are a blend of curiosity and fear, and watch every movement with expert anticipation. However, their use comes from their long and thick tails, ending in a small structure resembling a glass lantern, containing a bio-luminescent bulb that lights up even the darkest of nights. They were created to guide rebels along night paths without using fire or tar to do so, hopefully providing a sense of invisibility in terms of traveling at night. Incredibly enthralled by metal objects, Rebels were able to buy the mutts loyalties with things as simple as a fork or knife. However, it was soon discovered that their curiosity often lead them off the beaten trails and into more...disastrous areas. When too many groups of rebels were accidentally lead into sand pits or off of cliffs, the mutts were retired. However, they've found their use inside the 73rd Arena.
Poision, Edible, or Neither? Edible, but do you really wanna kill these cute things? Similar to the Delivery Word, tribs can buy a metal object from sponsorship and roll a dice to see if the creature decides to follow them. If successful, the tribute gains light for a single games fight. 



Name of Mutt: Midas Crovus
Brief Summary: All that glitters is not gold. They were created from greed, the ash body of a crow giving tints and streaks of gold, golden shimmers falling from its wings when it flies. They were created as pets for the wealthy, combining the intelligence and striking elegance of a crow with the only thing Capitolites put their worth into: gold. Initially they sold faster than they could be produced, an easy pet to feed and house, and cheap entertainment for their guests. However, the Capitol soon discovered that the mutated genes used to give the Crow its golden streaks and tints contained an equally dangerous chemical that had gone unnoticed in testing. Their body gives off a lethal toxin that is known to induce hallucinations in their victims, bringing the owners worst fears to life. In addition, their scratches and bites had a way of attacking a persons veins, turning the flesh a golden color and causing it to die at rapid rates. Eventually the birds became an even darker omen than they already embodied, and were recalled and slaughtered by the hundreds. However, they've now been released into the Arena in flocks, their blood red eyes watching every movement of their potential victims. Just be careful, tributes, because the toxins these birds make can both bring your worst fears to life, and turn you into bloody gold. 
Poision, Edible, or Neither? Poisonous. Tributes could be tripping balls during fights with them and, when poisoned, the flesh turns a sickly golden hue, just like Midas.
