the first challenge is starting!! "

Petelia's voice rings from the Haven speakers throughout the resort. First challenge?! You ask yourself, we just got here! Early comes the queen and she's kicking things off quick. A few hours ago, twenty teens from all over the districts arrived on set and it's already time to get this summer started. They've been free to roam the Villa since landing off the limos, but now they'll be exploring a whole new frontier: 

Each other! Whaaaat! 

So she meets them by the sea-side pool, a bit redundant but you can never truly be too wet. It's only been a few hours, no way in hell anyone's settled in too comfortably yet, but Petelia's already sporting an outfit change. Pink, pink, pink all over as always, she twirls her dress like a beacon to draw everyone in. 

"Hello hello everybody! So... what do you think?! The Villa's pretty badass, right?" Nodding her head along as she talks, "that's right, we spent good money on this Resort, so you all better treat her right!" Rented right out from Risky Pope herself, good lord the cleaning bill when this is all done is going to be insane. Twenty teens in one house? 

This is gonna get messy.

And Petelia can't wait any longer!

"Now, production's heard your complaints on the whole bed situation -- 9 beds, 20 of you, I didn't go to school for math. Unfortunately, we don't have it in the budget to whip out some more, sooo," she lies, "sounds like you guys will have to share!" She announces with a smile- they like, legally have to now. 

Petelia ignores how uncomfortable they look; it'll be great television, okay? "16 of you will stay in the Petty-Pastel Dorm Room, we'll figure the whole seating chart later. Some of you have snooped out the locked penthouse up top already, that's what we call the Hot Suite!" She says with her hands, "2 of you will have private access up there each week, how you'll win that luxury though we'll talk about soon."

"If you're doing the math, you'll be asking 'what about the last 2?' Well," hinting the bad news with a grimace, "we can't keep everybody, two of you will be going home... tonight." Uh-oh. Anyways, "at least you don't have to unpack, right? It's been so exciting to see you all finally arrive, but we're jumping straight into the action here." 

And emphasis on action, "your first challenge will start now. Check out the watches, we've got a whole new app game to play! This one's called The Snog-A-Thon - it's the one with the kissy emoji, you'll find it. Hope you guys've got your lip balms at the ready, because things are about to start heating UP!"

Long time no see, lovebirds! Pucker those lips up because the Snog-a-Thon is about to begin. The rules of this challenge are simple -- kiss as many people as you can! After each kiss, you'll be rating your competitors on how well they get their smooch on in the Snog-a-Thon app. All Young Love apps can be found on your uWatch wristband, courtesy of our sponsors: NERVAlink! 

How this will work out-of-character is you'll DM who you're trying to snog - there's nothin sexier than consent! Once you've gotten approval, you & your kissmate will post rolling your [1-10] dice rolls. This dice roll represents the rating you've gotten from your partner in the SaT app IC: 

1 - 0.5/5 snogs (yikes!)

Anyone who receives a rating of 6/3.0 (or higher!) will gain 1 Snog-a-Thon point -- anyone who nets a perfect kiss will gain 2! Additionally, anyone who posted in the Limo Entrances will gain a +1 to all ratings received. Chemistry's in the air: when kissing someone you matched with in the Hot or Not game, you can reroll any <5 result once.

To space out the posting order, lovebirds must wait 12 hours between posts.³ The Snog-a-Thon will close February 7th! This deadline may be moved anytime through Feb 1st-Feb 14th depending on activity. IC the Snog-a-Thon lasts 10 minutes! 

You do not have to wait for your partner to post before moving onto the next kiss; however, you cannot agree to more than 1 kiss at a time.¹ The top 9 kissers will become the Tops of Young Love for the challenge, while the bottom 10 will become, well, the Bottoms.⁴ The 20th place kisser will be eliminated on sight. Don't wanna be out this early?

There was no way I was going home first. I needed that money. And I haven’t even had the chance to steal anything yet. I like just got here! But, no one else wanted to go home either. Before I had the chance to even ask someone, I was grabbed. Normally I’d object to being manhandled, but I was actually being womanhandled. And the girl doing it was like really hot. I don’t know her name, but she’s like super hot. They don’t have girls like that in Twelve.

It is all getting a little heavy for Trish. The chain on her back. The constant flashes of the cameras and the ever-growing villa of contestants. Shit is real now. Either is going to be a complete disaster, a mediocre moment that she will soon forget or a literal life changing event. She hopes for the latter. The only thing in her way are the others. She needs to mingle with the right people, never be seen single and maybe add a little spice. Drama is a selling point, everyone likes drama.

Before she can even settle down and rid her flesh of the awkward outfit, the hostess is already delivering the instructions of the first task. ”Wow already? Everyone must be real eager for the content.” But what a fucking embarrassment it will be if she is already sent packing tonight. All that effort of persuading her father. All that effort of carrying the crystal metal cape for the past hour. For nothing. Annie would probably laugh her ass off when she arrives home on the first night.

It is an easy task. Make out with as many people as she can. A good quality snog. Trish is a good kisser, so she has been told. Easy. It is a little early in the process for her to be putting all this effort and a whole new front for the cameras. Though has been repeating the whole PR role that Annie has taught her. Always smile. Look professional. Professional kisser?

Now the trouble is finding the first worthy subject. Maybe she will start with someone good looking and then end with someone good looking. She can’t walk away from this with a bad taste in her mouth. Put the trash in the middle and then build it up to the sweet, sweet treasure at the end. Though will her lips be sucked off by some District Eleven before the end? She has no idea but the long-haired boy she is pretty sure she matched with before arriving at the villa looks a worthy starter.

Trish flicks through the applications on the watch while stalking her first prey. ”Hey, it is Hamilton Barr isn’t it or Barrsy?” While the thought of being swept off her feet sounds romantic and dreamy as ever, she literally has ten minutes to get through this and confirm a bed for the night. She is not waiting for him to make the first move. ”Whatever it is. I am not going home tonight and I am sure you don’t want too either so you better put your whole soul into this!” Trish dives in, grabbing hold of the taller guy’s cheeks and throwing as much energy into one long snog as she would throwing a possible instant kill punch in the training centre.

I mean I've been here 5 hours and I've already taken my shirt off twice, these abs weren't made to not be shown, y'know? Hell, the party started at 12 and as long as I'm here it don't stop! I've already found the gym, the kitchen & the pool - that's where I was before this whole thing. That and trying my hardest to ignore the Bellisario in the room; I was a huge Love fan, alright.

So the whole time Miss Petelia talks, all I can think of is that she and my uncle are tight. I'm not one to namedrop to get ahead or anything, but c'mon, this woman gave Justice a whole ass pink lion once. These Capitolites are crazy and I might be one of the few truly ready for that it. I'm surprised this really is just some cheesy dating gameshow - I mean, no death?

She’s laughing before she realizes it, the absurdity of it all bubbling out in frantic giggles. Her hair falls around her shoulders, gone curly in protest of the tight braids she’d long since picked apart. The ticking inside her chest is steady and rhythmic, in spite of ever fairy tale she’d ever read telling her it should have crawled up into her mouth by now. There’s something clinical about the way her peers descend upon each other, hungry for all the wrong reasons.

They kiss for a camera’s gaze.

”Ivy, right?” She looks up at Beau and decides he’s handsome in a rehearsed sort of way. His gaze makes her feel special even if she’s not especially anything.

”You’re right, but it’d be pretty funny if you weren’t.” The remnants of nervous laughter have melted into a shaky smile. She doesn’t focus on his eyes but instead the lips she’s about to ruin with cherry red. ”It’s nice to meet you Beau,”

She doesn’t answer the question he breathes against her lips; finding it wholly unnecessary considering in the next moment her fingers rest on his jaw and she closes what little distance remained between them. It’s nice, he’s nice and so her free hand finds purchase in the collar of his shirt pulling him just close enough that she can kiss him for a few seconds longer than she probably should.

There’s no telling how much kindness resides in a strange villa thousands of miles from home. Is it really so selfish to hoard the little bits she finds?

”Well,” She meets his eyes to spite of the heat she can feel simmering in her cheeks. There’s no reason to blush and so she refuses to acknowledge she is. ”good luck with the rest.”

I'm only out of the limo for mere seconds before Miss Quartz announces the Snog-A-Thon and chaos erupts amongst the mansion. An absolute bloodbath of saliva and battle of the tongues unfolding in front of me and before I'm even able to bring my wrist within vision someone taps me on the shoulder and pulls me aside.

”Hey, it is Hamilton Barr isn’t it or Barrsy?” this absolute smokeshow greets me. She has a sense of urgency thrusted upon her, an edge of competition that's reminiscent of the hardos at the career academy. I recognize her as one of the chicks I matched with on the dating app.

Beatrice was her name, I think.

"Name's Barrsy, but you can call me anytime," I wink at her, summoning the Barrsy-esque charm but her palms are already on my cheeks and she pulls me in for a sloppy, yet satisfying kiss. And this was just the beginning, I thought to myself as I let myself melt into her embrace, sneaking in a little cheeky tongue as my lips sync with hers.

She looks over her shoulder at the other contestants slowly joining her, and she considers the pros and cons of staking her claim on a bed right then and there. Worst case scenario, there's nothing stopping her from kicking any unwanted guests onto the floor.

Except for her standing in the competition.

Unfortunately for her, she can't gamble that.

So she pushes her frustration down, bottles up all of her anxious and introverted feelings — but she doesn't bother putting on any fake niceties. As much as she needs these people to enjoy her company, she refuses to be dishonest with anyone. She doesn't know any of them, and therefore, she owes them nothing. Not until the rules of the first challenge are read aloud, and she makes a calculated decision. Every choice matters.

Her success is defined by 'when,' not 'if.'

She has zero interest in kissing anyone this early, though a few strangers have piqued her interest — boys with gentle smiles, and girls with clever eyes. She wastes no time making her move. If a little smooch stands in the way of her future, then just go ahead and stitch a scarlet letter onto all of her clothing. No one needs to tell Carly that she is a survivor, and soon, no one will have to tell her that she is destined for more. More than the quiet streets of Nine, and the suffering, and losing the people she loves most. Sometimes, it feels like Morty is all she has left.

They didn't even show Aneesa's last minutes alive on television.

There's no closure.

"Forgive the assumption, but are you also here for the cash?" She says the words pointedly, leveling her gaze at the admittedly beautiful girl standing by her side. There's no time to waste. She's losing seconds with each moment, each breath, rosy lips parting in invitation. "I promise not to enjoy it if you don't." Call it a war strategy, and cut all of the strings attached. Her mouth could fell an empire.

You didn't know what it was about blondes, but they were irresistible.

With a coy smile tugging back the corner of your lips, you move to stand in front of her, enough distance between your bodies for her to pull away easily, but close enough that you could close the rest of the distance with ease. "Hi gorgeous," you purr, in the back of your mind you could hear your mother screaming. Your mother had never been one to stray from tradition, and it was traditional for you to marry a perfect young man. The thought of her distraught was delicious.

Because you were living for yourself, and you did not let anyone, even rogue, stop you from getting this far. You made it past all the busy work, and now you were ready to really get your hands dirty.

You were distracted from the roses when you heard a noise in the distance.

You were all summoned to a room that was a little tacky for your taste, but you had a feeling that was just the overall aesthetic. You wouldnt tell a soul that you really thought that though because you had a feeling that if you insulted something, you would have to have a damn good reason too.

You didnt think you would get this far, but of course, this was a dating show. You had never kissed anyone like that before, but if Bella could learn to kill on the fly, then you were just going to have to suck it up and learn to kiss on the fly.

But there was no backing down now.

The others made quick work around the room, and while you had a hard time trying to get any sort of bearing, that didnt matter. Throwing caution to the wind was probably the only way you were going to survive this.

You had to learn on the knowledge you already had. You recognized Etta from the app they had showed you earlier with all the matches on them. You decided to go into this whole thing keeping an open mind, and so you would continue to do so.

"Well, Hello Etta, Im Marley, and its nice to really meet you in person now." You give a light giggle, twirling your finger in your hair before pushing it to the side and giving Etta a little smirk. "I hope we get to know each other even more personally as time goes on." You waste no time, finding an opportunity and biting your lip.

You knew what had to be done, and so you closed the gap between both of you and planted your lips on hers.

This might have been your first real kiss, but you did not feel like there wasnt gravity here.

After all, you knew you could move mountains.

After I kissed Lux, someone pushed me to the floor and asked if she wanted to forget me. I thought I had done a pretty good job. But it didn't matter how well I did, I was still the kid from Twelve. Which, ironically enough, meant I was the only out of these fuckers who needed to win. Who deserved to win. They all had enough money to go around, this was just to fuel their own egos.

I could tell he was hesitant. I wasn't surprised there. People had all of these false ideas in their heads about the lower districts. Personally, I didn't want to kiss careers. My type wasn't a bunch of stuck-up rich kids with daddy issues. But, I wanted to win. And so did they. Our sacrifices were winning was kissing each other. Though people would say I was crazy if I ever voiced my displeasure with careers.

Part of me wanted to try harder, find a way to prove them wrong. That being from Twelve didn't magically make me inferior at everything, including kissing. Though I could appreciate one thing about Eneas. Even if he made it obvious with his body language he wasn't digging the Twelve thing, he didn't say anything. And he was a really fucking good kisser.

Honest to god, I’ve been here an hour and I’m already exhausted. I did not get enough sleep last night and I can already tell from my limited small talk with some of the latest arrivals that I’m nowhere near my peppy, charismatic self, and that simply won’t do. I’m a bit miffed that not even the steady flow of people through the front doors is doing much to lift my mood – extroverted energy is my go-go juice and right now it is just not hitting the same.

So it’s time for Plan B: power nap.

I’m surprised to find the bedroom as quickly as I do given the maze that is the villa. But when I do stumble across the vacant space, I immediately launch myself onto the closest bed pushed up into the corner and sigh contentedly. I’m probably creasing the silk of my dress beyond damage control as I curl up like a cat amidst the bedsheets, but I couldn’t care less.

Just a quick nap, and then I’ll be back to normal. Good as new. Arcadia Lumiere-Fray is the best in the business when it comes to people…

…as long as she’s had her beauty sleep.

It feels like I’ve closed my eyes for all of two minutes before a shrill voice fills the room, assaulting me from all angles. I look around blindly, ready to throw my pillow at the first person I see, but there’s nobody to be seen. That’s when I notice the small speakers embedded into the ceiling, and that the high-pitched voice is one all too familiar.

“Calling all lovebirds, the first challenge is starting!”

Huffing to myself, I extract myself from the plush bed and dramatically sulk outside to where my new roomies have already begun to gather. Petelia Quartz is there, the perpetrator of my nightmare, in her frou-frou pink effervescence, confident as anything as she begins explaining the rules of the first challenge – a challenge already, unbelievable. It’s like the world decided to conspire against me today. I just wanted a teensy tiny little break from Trylle’s snoring.

“–16 of you will stay in the Petty-Pastel Dorm Room, we'll figure the whole seating chart later–”

“Uhh hold up, I’ve already shotgunned a bed, so let’s keep that in mind here–” I try to stutter out, but Petelia just continues talking over the top of me. Apparently likes the sound of her own voice. No surprises. All Capitolites are the same.

Whatever. I’m getting my bed back, end of story. Not that it was lost or anything. Or maybe it was. But I guess it was never mine… I don’t even know what’s happening, I’m confused as hell.

Oh. Kissing. Right. Okay. I can do that.

I barely have time to turn around and lock eyes with the closest person to me before my view is blocked by a stunning girl with tan skin and dark brown hair.

“Hi gorgeous.” Her voice is honey and her eyes are glowing and I’m intrigued for many reasons.

For starters, why does she look so damn familiar? She’s surely a career, from the tautness of her muscles and her athletic build, but I’m positive that I haven’t seen her at training. She must be from District 2, or 4, but she doesn’t strike me as the beachy boho type.

“I’m gonna kiss you now.”

“Okay!” I reply, probably a bit too excitedly, but it’s honestly all I’m able to manage before she’s leaning in and I’m there to catch her lips, a hand coming up to rest gently on her cheek to steady ourselves.

When we break apart, I’m beaming and most definitely awake now. Who knew a good kiss was just as good as a power nap?

“Come find me later,” I whisper to her, winking quickly before turning my back and moving towards the centre of the crowd – where I belong.

What a disappointing draw for the first round, not exactly her plan to start well and end well. There is a bad taste rotting away in her mouth an urgency to cleanse her palette.

A kissing contest? Eneas bites his lip after hearing those words. He figures it can't be that hard when there are twenty teenagers dropped into a box like toys filling up an arcade machine. He bends his neck slightly each way sitting in one of the chairs. As a few of the people begin shuffling around, he remains put. Things in District One always seemed to just come to him, why wouldn't this place be any different? Everyone says One is the closest thing to the Capitol as far as aesthetics and ambiance are concerned.

Eneas's legs cross and he leans back.. Waiting. And waiting. And waiting. But finally, one of the boys he'd clocked as one of the lower district people of the game approaches him. Eneas keeps his eyes away for a second, almost trying to reject the boy before he even gets the chance to ask. He looks on to see if any of the ladies or gentlemen are coming towards him so he can get up and choose them instead. But none.

"Wanna make out?"

Eneas wants to say no, but it seems like there's no other choice. He'll be the worst kisser if he doesn't kiss anybody.

"Why fucking not."

And he leans in, starting off the Snog-A-Thon with a less than desired first kiss.
