[YLIP] Challenge #1: The Snog-a-Thon

For a moment, it's as if he's finally getting a hang on this - and Ajax, like the previous four, weren't half bad - because wow, okay, there's a rhythm to this game, a method to this madness, and he's honestly starting to have some fun-

-and then it's announced that the time is halfway done and well, that's just great, because Achilles has been kissing roughly one individual a minute and given that there's literally twenty in here that's not a great rate to take to end up staying. He's gotta do something (or someone) fast, and step up the pace.

Of course, the first one to cross his path is another girl, blond and pretty and clearly high on the sheer number of lips she's touched lately (which, fair, he can relate) but when she challenges him to match the ghosts of kisses past, he blushes. Because, well, that's a mighty tall order.

"If you're looking to be impressed, you kinda came to the wrong guy," he chuckles awkwardly, because hey, of the eight people he's ever kissed in his life, five of them were right here, having happened less than ten minutes ago.

But, this is a competition, and whatever else he is, he's no quitter. So he pastes on a genuine Haus of Gaultier grin, musters up as much confidence (faux or otherwise) that he can, and steps forward to close the distance. "But I'll give it my best shot regardless, if you'll let me."

Their lips crash a second later. Achilles takes that as a yes.

Okay, he sort of gets it now. The girl - Beatrice - was good at what she did. Very good. Honestly, it took everything Achilles had to keep up with her, but, in his humble opinion, he thinks he did a decent job himself.

Or at least he hopes so. Lord, he isn't even sure how he'd confront a confident version of himself like that. Whatever persona that was, that would have to be explored in the future.

"So," Another voice reaches his ears, and Achilles turns and, well, what a surprise, yet another extremely attractive guy. Honestly, he's not sure if he's attracted or jealous, at this point. Maybe a little of both. "You look like you could use another kiss. Mind if I help you with that?

He laughs again, but it's freer this time. Maybe kissing Beatrice was the kick he needed to really get his ass into gear. "Was it that obvious?" comes the response, because hey, who doesn't love a little self deprecating humor in this good year of 89 ADD?

But he can mix it in with a little game of his own, because he didn't fail all of Lore's etiquette lessons before coming here, after all. "Well, if you're offering, I'd be more than happy to take you up on that though," he punctuates with a wink. Cheesy, but this guy seems the sort that would appreciate that.

If he does, then well, that'd be a coincidence, because Achilles appreciates it as well.

This kiss wasn't perfect, but hey, who had a 100% success rate in anything when it came to love and romance? Certainly not Achilles. The 6 he aims for is fat-fingered into a 3, however, and he winces. Because of course, the moment he finds a guy that stands out from the crowd, who matches him in the more awkward aspects of competition, and, well, another accidental low score. Guess he'll have to chase this other boy - Dionysus - down once he's done doing the same with Wolfgang.

He laughs again, mostly to himself this time, because en minutes here and he's already finding himself pulled in so many directions. Lore would approve.

The dwindling time seems to have inspired more people than just himself, however, as another girl limps her way over to him. For a second, he's confused, but then-

"Well, I gotta say, I'm on my last leg with this challenge."

He snorts, because he can't help it - it's funny, okay? Honestly, he could see himself being seduced by a plethora of bad jokes.

But then the girl says "Kiss me," and oh, yeah, it's a stark reminder of the assertiveness that had left him a blushing, fumbling mess for his first few kisses. Spoiler alert: he has not developed an immunity to it since then.

He does recover somewhat quickly this time, in his humble opinion, even if his face still burns. Gaultier training at its finest. "Well, I can't promise I'll be," he pauses, glancing down at the girl's feet, "leg-endary, hopefully we can, er, put our best foot forward after this?"

Okay, enough feet puns. Time for the main event.

The ball was in full swing. Everything sparkled and everyone seemed to be dancing. The way he approached the next person was like a gentleman asking someone out for a waltz – formal but with a hint of seductiveness in the gleam his eyes held. “Hey,” Benito asked the boy as he took his hand in his own. “This thing’s almost done so I’m, uh, looking for my grand finish.”

It feels like its been hours - days? Had the hovercraft crashed and she was not stuck in lip-locking purgatory? This was only supposed to last ten minutes so why does it feel like it's been a fucking month.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel, the seconds are ticking down.

"One more, for the road." She finds a boy she's yet to kiss and looks up at him, "You in the market for another kiss?"

It's so much easier when people say what they mean.
