This knight, who has deemed himself " Sewer Knight Djed Carnelian of the Order of District Eight" keeps trying to block with his arm, forgetting that he has no shield attached to his arms, only a rusty knife that grazes my arm as I tried to dodge his attacks. I'm learning that agility isn't a skill of mine, but I seem to be gaining a solid aptitude with a spear. Not a weapon one would think is fitting for a princess, yet here we are. I was always more proficient with a thread and needle, maybe a spear is just an enlarged version of a needle and thread.

I can't help but laugh at Djed's proclamation though. How can he expect to be fighting for the honor of his people, rallying his District partner to step in once I slay him, when he can only get one good hit on me? He calls his strikes honorable, yet there is no honor to be found in a blood sport that sacrifices the future of its children for the entertainment of its entitled elderly elite. They willingly try and forfeit the life of a princess in order to appease their dukes and viscounts. I knew that my reign would be solidified and forged in the blood of others, but there is no honor or dignity to be found here.

"Sewer Knight Carnelian," I start, keeping my voice composed. "While I admire your service to your District, please note that this Arena is not on for use to find our glory, but to prove our worth. Assaulting Her Royal Highness Princess Kasia Karataeva of District Three was the fastest way to sign your own death warrant. Please note that inviting your contemporaries to join your fight is only signing their execution orders as well." I stare him in the eyes, tightening the grip on my spear.

"Please know that I take no joy in carrying out executions. It's a cruel, yet necessary task."

I strike out, hopefully striking deep enough to end this once and for all. Benson seems to be holding his own. I can only ask that he holds out for a little bit longer.
