Now we're all depressed, Colton though. Ruby and Iris did indeed look sad and miserable. It was the Capitol's fault, for forcing them into the Games. Although, it seemed as if Iris appreciated his joke. That had to count for something.
"Home's...just so difficult to talk about, isn't it?" Well, Ruby pretty much nailed it with that question.
Colton loved his home, really, he did, but it was impossible to talk about all of the things he loved and lost. It was like putting salt on a wound. And, chances were, he wouldn't find them again. That was just how these things worked.
"Yes. So, I bet you don't get to see a lot of animals in District Seven, Ruby. Why don't we go over and work on some basic animal training techniques with that Collie?"
Ah, back to the point. At least you could count on Iris to remember what they were actually supposed to do in the first place. Colton himself had been caught up in his thoughts, and trying not to be. He may love his parents, but he didn't want to think about all of the wonderful times he had with his family.
Iris walked towards the collie. Ruby seemed just a bit apprehensive, but that was understandable. Colton had worked with children who weren't completely used to animals before. Most of them were just excited to pet the animals, but some were nervous. Colton figured that was what Ruby felt.
He leaned down and petted the collie. He was beautiful, really. How could you not love this bit of home? He had floppy ears and intelligent eyes. The eyes sort of reminded him of Sherif. Colton was suddenly nostalgic and wished to be home in District Five in the forests with his horse. Just like old times.
He shook off the feeling. "Put your hand right here," he instructed Ruby, gesturing for her to move it right where his was, under the collie's nose. They needed to get used to your smell.
Ruby did as she was told and the collie wagged his tail. "Good boy!" Colton praised.
ooc: Sorry, lame post. I loved both of your interviews too!
