The motley group of two guys, two girls, and a dog - female - commenced to proceed to said construction shop, the itch to go somewhere for the dark-skinned one finally answered. The people before her were, indeed, considered to be 'motley'. Nil was had kept quiet under the pretension of these 'two fine gents' desiring their business done quick and easy, without a second thought, without much emotion shared. The most minimal effort was to do and be done. The young lady looked ahead, searching far and wide for their destination.
One boy spoke up, an inquiry on their - Lily and Nil's - businesses before being on the quest for the holy shop. She crossed her arms, keeping a stern face. "I was out running. Just running wherever I want to go while remembering which paths to take back to a home." She wondered for what reason one went to ask about a girl's personal affairs prior to the accidental meeting; but, she stopped after a while, uncaring after two seconds.
The other - the younger - brought forth the question of knowing the owner of the store. No smile formed for the second question. "Heard he's okay from the moms. He's helpful at the best of times, leaves ya alone at the worst of times. A true helper. I remember when they would complain that they wouldn't help them get up to the higher shelves; besides that, however, should be good in tools and all sorts of junk. Got the best equipment around, say the moms and my brother." She shrugged, obviously not above decent in conversation of any kind. It was quite rare of her to even be spoken to this much.
After answering the petty questions, Nil listened in for Lily's, in waiting for their location to be met in the path. The older girl had noted several social inconsistencies in Lily's speech, but she mentally shrugged them off. Courage must be earned; bravery must be found; stammering and stuttering must be fought. The rules of social interaction were taunting figures. Beasts of the mingle, creatures of words, they were.
Darkness started its reign under the guise of grayness. The crew continued along the edge, following one another, a diverse band of people. The sun still cheered but now with the energy of a sleepy drunk: slow, dim, lazy. Lily, during their travel, asked the younger brother - Naoki - about their origins. "Mm... Just assumed I met everyone and forgot their faces..." she said with heavy sarcasm, though in an interested mumble. She was piqued.
The other girl had asked for water; Nil sighed. I won't be runnin' anymore after this, I suppose... The dark-skinned girl dug into her bag, searching, and then thrust out a bottle to Lily, looking straight and true, not distracted from the objective yet. "Waterfall it. There shouldn't be any backwash germs."
