Wherever you're from, you must have slang. Your inner-circle, your city, your state, your country. This is the place to enlighten the rest of us about your slang

"sketch" - LA word for shady, it isn't slang just here, but we use it a lot

"sketcher/shoe" - someone who is of the sketch variety

"ace" - really great, fabulous

"meep" - an awkward sound

"oh rang" - usually what you say when you have homework

"motherfunction" - its just funny to include ^^

"neanderthal" - foolish

"super shwvet" - this is an english spelling of a french word for groovy

"shiitake mushrooms" - trying to avoid cursing, yet again

"leedle" - a lude act involving flicking your tongue around like a neanderthal, and making the noise "leehhhdlllleee, leeehhhdlee leeeeoooo" Its kind of like a sign of not caring what others think, usually you try to be soup secret about it though, and cover your mouth so only your friend can see the sketchness

"poseidon" - the word assigned to a hot guy without a shirt on, usually at the beach. basically a beach sex god

"DT_" - down to.. whatever you add the letter, so there's f, s, l, etc

"Shadoobs" - like shiitake mushrooms, its like saying "oh poop!" which people do say ^^

"Pickled/Inebriated" - uncommonly heard words (in most places) to say someone is smashed out of their brain insane DRUNK. sort of half to prove you arent drunk enough that you cant say the word inebriated, and to also keep form shouting the D-word in case an adult hears and they start listening in on their 'dar.

[/b] -- an exaggeration, e.g. it's hella hot in here. people from socal despise this word.

fo' sho' -- widely used now, to indicate agreement, e.g. you going to be there at eight? fo' sho'.

thizzin -- once contained to doing a specific drug, this is now widely used to suggest partying, e.g. later we be thizzin.

yay area -- synonymous with the san francisco bay area.

hyphy -- crazy or goofy, likely a derivative of hyperactive.

dropping the from freeway directions -- another way socal and norcal differentiate themselves, socalians will direct you to "the one-oh-one" while norcalians will tell you to "take one-oh-one."[/size][/ul]

Noise - As in... idk... "That noise is awesome." Another way of saying stuff or thing. Just a generic filler word. Picked it up from my Philly friends.

Salty - As in... "You're looking pretty salty, Jack." Aka, Jack is full of it and you're calling him out on his lies. If you're feeling sassy, you pretend to dust the salt off his shoulder as you say it.

Crick - Another word for a river or a creek. Redneck-speak, yo.

...these are hard to think of off the top of my head. I'ma dig through Bang Bang posts to find more cause I actually use a lot of her slang irl lol.

Eh:[/i] Word commonly used at the end of questions. Can also make a simple statement sound like a question.

Mrs. Norcal reminded me of a few words, we have

fo shizzle (variant of fo' sho')
-esh endings. Presh, spesh,
basically any way to shorten words so we can fit in more likes and less important stuff like fab, perf, def, prob, ish
low/high key low-key is pretty chill, high key is excited
chip on the shoulder kinda like Lalia's brushing salt off the shoulder. We use "salty" to describe a sassmonster here too
squee kinda meant to make girls seem cuter than they are. if you have a sketch reputation and people think you're a bitshnezz, you say "squee" and type <3s on facebook on any images, statuses, etc. you say the words "low key" and "high key" a lot, and slip in a few nbds.

You mean Canada? Or Canadian? We don't say eh that often, we only say it once in a while. People here say it's better than saying 'huh?' like:

'So you you liked that moose, huh?'
and
'Look at that strange beaver, huh?'

Here by the East Coast<3 Crap that we say between my group of friends, and generally.

"Fo Cereal" - another way of saying for real, or seriously.

"Ridick" - shortened way of saying ridiculous.

"Totes Oh My God" - making fun of the show Degrassi, Paige use to say this. Basically means Totally Oh My God.

"Legit" - personally I can't stand this word, but it's a shortened version of legitimate.

"Awkward" - my favorite. I use it all the time to describe things. Means anything unsettling or uneasy.

"The Usushh" - pronounced "the you-sh" and means the usual.

"Parentals" - the parents.

"FTW" - for the win.. some don't understand it....

i used to think it was a myth-like stereotype, buut nope, people really do say this a lot here.

So... I don't really live in South Louisiana anymore, but I still use the same phrases and terms that I used to. Keeping up that cajun spirit, eh?

So yeah, there's only a few that I can think of off the top of my head.

Boude' It's pronounced Booday, and in Cajun French it mean's pouting or whining a lot.
For Example: Stop your boodayin'!

Bahbin It's pretty much the same meaning as the previous one, though it's a different word. It's basically just a pouting expression.
Example: That bahbin he keeps making is so annoying.

Drawz or Drawers For some reason, people don't understand this one. It's underwear for crying out loud!
Example: Don't forget to pack your drawz!

Ro-day It really means to go from place to place, though I used to use it as to go party.
Example: We went ro-dayin all night

Omnom This one's pretty normal. I use it just as a substitute for yummy/
Example: Omnomnomnom, this food is nommy

I can only think of one right now, which is pronounced yee (idk how you would spell it) it basically means you all like, "Have yee read the Hunger Games?"

"carrots" I don't know when this started, but sometime during the beggining of my school year someone started saying carrots whenever something went wrong. When I discovered it my friedn had spilled her lunch tray and yelled "oh carrots!" Then I started using it. "Oh carrots I made a D!" Once, my teacher thought it was so funny she actually said it! She hears us say it all the time so I guess she picked it up. She dropped the chalk and says "Carrots!" We laugh over it so much nowadays, and I still use it! Only a few more months left for school!


"Yo" I don't use it, but some of my friends, will call me over like that. "Yo Sarella!" and my best friend Amaya often just says "Yo" for know good reason.

what's the craic? - this means "what's up?" although sometimes people use it to ask "how are you?"

wind your neck in! - this basically means "talk some sense!" or "quit talking nonsence!" sometimes if someone's annoyed or mad, people can use this as a firm way to tell them "calm down!"

you're a geg! - people usually think this is an insult when they're not from ireland, but it actually means "you're a laugh!" sometimes it can mean that someone's a little stupid or a bit mad, but it's a playful teasing way to put it.

I'd like to weigh in one the Canadian "eh" deal. I actually say eh a lot more than I probably realize. My American uncle always points it out, and it actually is a fair bit. But you know. That's how we role in the north.

Cheechako - A n00b. In the Yukon, we also use it to refer to people who aren't from the Yukon. Originally, it was used in the Klondike Gold Rush when referring to a miner who had just come to the north.

Sourdough - Someone who's lived in the Yukon for awhile. I would be a Sourdough. It was what experienced miners were called in the gold rush.

Skookum - It means good, basically.
