Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
He got behind me and slashed at my back. I don't know how he did it, but he did. I was dying, and there was no doubt about it. There was just too much blood spilling from my veins for me to stay alive. I fell to the ground face first, landing on my stomach. I rolled over to see him crouching beside me. “You're damn good with that sword,” I said, laughing a bit despite my state. I wanted to go out happy, not alone and depressed. “Bring that foot back to my family,” I muttered out to him, hoping he heard me. “If you get in a fight, please try to make sure it gets back to my family.”
I'm just a poor boy
I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Any way the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me
To me
I rolled over and spit out some blood. Wincing at the effort, I laid there waiting for it to end. I had put myself in this deathtrap, had hoped to die or win fame for my family. I had achieved my goal. I felt my strength almost fully drain out. “Harrier,” I said, with the last of my strength, “If you're watching this, know that I've always got your back.” And with that, I my strength left my body, and I closed my eyes for the last time.
Mama
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on
As if nothing really matters
I opened my eyes to a hallway with white walls. Doors lined the hall, and beyond them, rooms filled with color and strange scenes. At the end of this strange hall a door was flung wide open. Beyond the door, there were trees and underneath them, ground. Real ground, that smelled of home. I ran for it passing the other rooms. A room to my right contained an ocean. I wondered why it wasn't spilling in before I continued running. I passed a park filled with snow, and two boys stood in the middle. I didn't stop to look, and simply continued my mad dash for the end.
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye, everybody
I've got to go
Got to leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
I finally reached the end of the hallway, and noticed a weird shelf next to the door I wanted to go through. It was almost identical to the one I had at home, and then I realized what was happening. My soul was reliving the happiest memories it could think of. I would be doing this forever, and that was fine by me. I grabbed everything off the rack, and strapped my knife in. It was better than the one I used to have. It had an antler handle and a steel blade, a great hunting knife. I finished getting ready, and ran into the woods.
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me
Any way the wind blows
