Painting a dream(open)

"So what's your district like?" she asks me, I don't even think before I speak. "12 is beautiful" My favorite part is the seam where the coal miners live, it has such a calm sadness to it. I live in the town though but I don't like the town very much the people are fake." I could go on and on about my home but I felt it was best to keep it short. My mind wandered back to her arm. "How did it happen?" I ask nudging my head in the direction of her arm, and trying to be casual. I hope I didn't offend her and begin to worry as her answer isnt as quick as the last.

"How did it happen?" she asks nudging to where my right arm should be. Immediately i feel the ghost pains coming back from this morning. I tried my best not to scream,but i felt a tear rolling down my cheek. I saw her staring at me and i quickly wiped my tear away and started to talk with a forced smile on my face. "Don't worry you didn't say anything wrong it's just sometimes i get ghost pains where the arm should be" i say,but that didn't answer her question.

I wonder how much i should tell her,probably everything i knew,because well i don't know much myself." I don't really know much on how i lost my arm, Well i was only three so couldn't have remembered everything. All i know is that one day i got lost in the woods for some reason. It was winter and there was snow everywhere. I spent the night in the woods and lost my arm to frostbite,my parents found me the next morning." I reply with more of a hushed tone. I didn't mention that my whole personalty changed after the accident.
"so how old are you?" i asked trying to change the subject before i burst into tears.

I know instantly that I crossed a line I shouldn't have as she wipes the tear from her face. Ghost pains, I understand those well, when old scars that are long since healed still ache like they happened yesterday.
"How old are you?" she asks "I'm sorry" I say with sincerity not sure if I'm more sorry for the traumatic event she went through or the fact that my question brought back so much pain. "I'm 17" I finally answer her question, I look at her still feeling bad I keep my questions light I don't want to upset my new friend.

"How old are you?" I ask.

17 a year older than me. Doesn't matter we can still be friends I hope silently. I can see the pity on her face,of what happened,but pity is the last thing I want,but when do I ever want something for myself? I feel like telling her it's no big deal if we were going to be friends then I wanted to tell her everything I can. " It's o.k. you didn't say anything wrong with my arm. If we are going to be friends then I would hope that I could tell you everything about me" I say warmly and with a big smile on my face.

"Oh I almost forgot I'm 16" I add with more of a fast tone"But everybody says I act like I'm Happy 12 year old,but it doesn't matter."I conclude still smiling. I think what I should say next to keep this conversation going. I know her favourite color,what she likes to do in her free time,about her friends that she doesn't really have,what else could I ask her. "So you said you like flowers,What's your favourite type,maybe I have painting of it." I ask

"So you said you like flowers,What's your favorite type, maybe I have painting of it."

I love so many flowers but I've always known what my favorite is. "Daisy's" I say touching my daisy clip and wishing I could smell them like I do back home. "They remind me of innocence" I go on to say feeling the smile come back to my face while thinking of them. " I remember the first time I saw a daisy." I start to tell her.

"I had to be about 3 or 4, and it was spring. All the flowers that we kept in the greenhouse were starting to bloom and my father had a bouquet he was making for an upcoming wedding. A flower slipped to the floor and I ran to pick it up, holding it in my hand I smelled it and was in love with the scent. I've warn daisy's in my hair ever since"

I feel a little childish telling her my story, but If she is to be my friend I don't mind sharing. "Sorry, I could go on and on about flowers..." I start to feel self conscious, hoping that I'm not boring her with my petty story, but out of the few good memories I have that was one of the best. "Would you be willing to paint a picture for me?" I ask hoping she'll say yes.

Her story with the daisy reminded her about how much she loves animals and plants. She remembered when she was 8 how she started her collection. At first she started with simple flowers and then to any animal she could find. She still loves to do so. The thought of that made all her pain go away,and she was returning to her good old self..well her good old new self. Camellia then asked if she could paint a daisy for her. Well she never painted a Daisy before so why not. " of course I will Paint one for you" she said
