Her company was right--if Priya had been here to watch her watch this victim then she would have frowned and assigned Lana to caring for the sick little boy back at the Healers Den instead of sending her on this interesting, experience-making mission. The thing was, Lana had never seen anybody whipped. When she watched this guy fall to the ground in sheer pain she had winced r ight along, tasting the acidic sting of hurt that he was feeling. Some people would say she was an empath but Illiana didn't like labels being slapped on her except for the label of Healer. Empathy shouldn't be refereed to as something special, if all people tasted each others fear and lack of hope then maybe the Capitol would stop hurting the District people. If everybody stopped thinking being an empathetic soul was so hard and just tried to relate then the world would be a much better place.
Oh yeah, what was I supposed to be doing? Healer Mode time. Illiana felt her mind zero in on the crouching boy. With Senia's blessing she scooped up her medical bag and started toward him, only pausing to ask Senia if she were coming. "Well?" She didn't wait to see if Senia would stop working and tag along for a few minutes of an excused break. Determined to make up for her terrible behavior she just walked on over to her patient, white-blonde hair escaping its tight, confining bun and streaming behind her like a banner. She walked fast enough that there was an artificial wind that caused such a movie-esk thing to occur.
She stopped upon arriving at this poor souls work station and crouched near him, unzipping hidden compartments of her Healers Kit Official Bag Thing. Right around now was the t ime for Lana to curse herself--if only she hadn't offered the bandages to Senia she would have enough to wrap both whip cuts. "Have to use his shirt..." she muttered to only herself. Cutting the material into strips and wrapping such a wound would take time and effort but maybe if Senia decided to come, she would have help. If Senia didn't come by her own will then Lana would simply call in a Healers favor. Those bandages in exchange for her help.
Healers could indeed do that. Priya had become rigid and uneasy the second Lana asked about it, but the older Healer had nodded and confirmed what Illiana Annwn already knew. Healers were powerful people and when they called upon the average workers to help out, usually, usually if they had a sense of honor and had been helped out by the Healers before, then they would grudgingly or happily do as the Healer wished for a day or two. Maybe if the situation had been less severe, like say, this guy had a bug bite, then Lana would have hesitated before calling upon this ancient healing rule, but this was special. Her first whipping case! The excitement! The-the rush!
