Hell, that's the word I'd use to describe this damn arena. It was a barren wasteland. I'd spent nine days in this damn place and was ready to go home. I had no idea where I was going, only that I had to keep moving. The little life inside me drove me towards the end of these wretched games. I would go home, I would be victor, I would go home, have a nice house in the victors village, and live happily ever after with Reagan, the man of my dreams. I clutched the dagger in my hands, they were red from the biting cold that nipped at my nose and drove my fingers to become numb. I knew that probably wasn't a good sign but at the moment, I didn't care. I just wanted to go home. 22 people where dead, one of which had been at my hands, and only one other person stood in my way of that crown. Stryks, my district partner. We'd bonded on the train and in training but we hadn't been allys, I'd hoped that one of the other tributes would kill him off but obviously, the odds weren't in my favor. Today, I would have to kill him myself, and go home with a district that thought of me as a traitor because I'd killed my district partner.

My hand that wasn't clutching the dagger went to my stomach which had a definitive bump. I will win for you I promised the life inside me. I didn't want to kill, I'd hated killing the girl from seven, it still haunted my thoughts. the way the light had died from her eyes as I drove my dagger through her heart two days ago. I still could picture the way she stared at me with hate in her eyes. I'm sorry, If I could go back, I would and take it back I shook my red head and drew my hood closer to my ears, not wanting to lose my ears, I'd seen many people lose theirs in this games. Biting snow tried to stop me as I trudged on, not able to penetrate the thick parka my stylist had given me before I'd entered the games. Oh, Ender, I miss you I honestly missed him, he'd been a wonderful stylist, dressing me in beautiful outfits that had gotten me lots of sponsors. I took a drink from my canteen, happy that the canteen kept the cold out, preventing the essential life-line inside from freezing. The cool water hit my tongue and I smiled, enjoying the sweet taste of the water. Even though it was cold, it was nice to have water in my system.

I didn't realize where I was until I saw the glint of the cornucopia ahead of me. Oh, ripred, help me. Please, don't let me die today, I have to go home to Reagan and I have to win for the life growing inside me I prayed before continuing to trudge towards the golden horn. It had been picked clean throughout the games and no longer held any supplies. The realization hit me. I was about to be faced with death again. Either I was going to die or my district partner would. I clutched at my stomach, feeling the dagger slip from my grasp. It fell to the snow and I sank to my knees. I'm sorry, Reagan. I'm sorry you have to see me like this I thought. "I love you Reagan" I said softly, knowing a camera was no doubt on my face. I looked straight into the camera and let them see the determination on my face. "I'm coming home to you mom and dad, I promise" I said, picking up my dagger and standing.

I could see a figure trudging towards the cornucopia. It was Stryks, I hadn't seen him since the blood bath and it was a shock that he would be my final opponent. "Stryks, it's good to see you" I called, my voice echoing off the snow. Thankfully, the light snow that had fallen earlier had stopped and now, the world was quiet, as if the entire arena was holding it's breath. I knew that this fight would be emotionally and mentally scarring to whoever made it out. I prepared myself for the tears I was sure I would shed.

Nine days. Nine days of being scared for your life at every second. Nine days of murdering innocent kids. Twenty-two are dead. Three of them were caused by me. I am in a vast area of nothing but snow. Snow everywhere. No trees, no wood, no fire, no food. There is one other person in this arena. She's looking for me. Her name is Fenna. My district partner. She is close. She can probably see me now.

I remember the bloodbath vividly. I attacked many people, and was attacked many times. But the boy from 6, Marcus I think. I delivered his death blow. My axe cut all the way through his long neck. Then later on day 4. The alliance of the girls from 10 and 12 attacked my alliance. I was with the tributes from 8. The fight between us lasted too long. My axe landed in her hip, and it was the last thing the district 10 tribute will ever remember. We ditched away before the 12 girl could land another hit.

But my most traumatizing battle was yesterday. The girl from 8, Maria, was already dead from the feast the day before. Dennis, my other alliance member, decided that it was time to turn on me. He almost had me dead. I threw my axe as a last ditch effort and it landed directly in his skull. I've healed a lot due to the amount of supplies that he had been hiding from me.

I come across the golden cornucopia stained red. Blood-red. I haven't seen this bright horn since the beginning. I come back to the place where I grabbed the bag that held the supplies that I've lived on for the last several days. I feel the ground where I picked up the thing that has already saved my life multiple times. Weather it be from a person or a mutation. My Axe.

I have the axe ready in my hand prepared for an incoming attack. I know she's near. It's just that, on the train, we bonded. In the training center I thought of her as a safe place, a friend. Now I am ending her life. We weren't allies, Because I was hoping she would die and I wouldn't have to see it.

I take a note of all my wounds. I gash in the back of my neck. I'm missing my left ear. And I large hole in my head. There are other scratches as well, but there nothing that will matter. Every place on my body that has had open blood is probably infected. If Fenna could hold off this fight for a day, nature would end me. But the Gamemakers won't allow that. I just have to expect a tear filled. Emotionally scarring fight. A scar the the capitol can create, but can't heal. Ever.

"Stryk, it's good to see you," My partner says. I turn around to see Fenna. I hadn't expected her quite yet. The shock of seeing her alive, and here makes me stumble backwards. I hate to believe that there are only two people in this entire area of ice. And it just had to be her. I'm sure the capitol is loving it. I make sure I have my axe ready.

"I am a respectful person. You are the lady, so you take the first hit. Please?" I ask. I brace myself for the inevitable. I'm going to cry.

I can see that Stryk is injured. He's got blood on him, quite a bit of it from the looks of it. I grip the handle of my dagger, feeling a lone tear streak down my face. Why did it have to be my district partner? Why couldn't it have been someone else who I'd never really gotten to know. We had bonded on the train and in training. I hated the Captitol for what it was doing to us. Although I imagined the people in the Capitol were loving this. This would no doubt be the most epic finale in the history of the games.

"I am a respectful person. You are the lady, so you take the first hit. Please?" his voice surprised me. I didn't want to be the one to take the first hit. I'd always been taught, as a young child, don't attack unless you're attacked first. This went against everything I'd been told as a child. He was being a gentleman, even here in this god-awful arena, he still had his humanity. I felt another tear fall down my cheek, only to freeze from the bitter cold air before it got halfway down my cheek. A tearsicle. At any other moment, I would have smiled but now was not the time or place for that. In this arena, I'd grown up a lot. I'd learned to fend for myself, even though I hadn't liked it much, I'd learned to survive and I was intent on being the one to go home. I couldn't say whether or not Stryk has a family, a girl friend, whatever to go home to but I knew I had one and they wanted me to come home. If I died, what would happen to Reagan, I know I'd made my parents promise to look after him but what about when and if I died? Would they go back on their promise? Would they leave him to fend for himself? These questions swam through my mind but I shook my head, clearing them away like spiderwebs in my brain. I didn't need distractions. I needed to focus on the task at hand and that was ending these wretched games. I sized him up, knowing he was probably almost twice my size. Even though he was injured, I knew not to underestimate him. "I'm sorry, Stryk, I have to go home, I have to go back to my family. I don't know if you have a family to go home to or whatnot but I know that to me, my family is all that matters" I said, approaching him with my dagger gripped tightly in my hand. I knew I'd fight better without the parka and so, I shed it, feeling the ice cold slap of the air against the thermal shirt and snow pants. Memories of the first few days with Reagan flitted through my mind, how we'd played in the snow and he'd tackled me and we'd giggled before going back inside with him soaked. I'd been wearing snow pants at the time.

Pushing the thoughts from my mind, I looked at Stryk, he was standing there, waiting for me to attack him. I darted up to him, my dagger poised, and lashed out.

Before I feel an attack, I hear her talk, which hurts much worse than anything this arena has thrown at me. "I'm sorry, Stryk, I have to go home, I have to go back to my family. I don't know if you have a family to go home to or whatnot but I know that to me, my family is all that matters." She has a family. I don't. I never have, I don't have a single memory of a parent.

You have Davis, I think to myself. That is true, I do have Davis. I always though Davis hated me, but the last time I saw him I found that he did love me. The flash of Davis quickly disappears. I don't have time for any other though before the attack comes.

I feel the dagger cut across my head. I scream in pain. I don't have to worry about people hearing me this time. After I calm, I speak. "You know Fenna, in a way I do have something waiting for me back home. Every tribute that comes here does. But only one get's to return. And it has to be me. You don't understand why, but this time, it has to be. The death of you will definitely start something. If I die, well, if I die, all is over, and the capitol wins again. You don't win. No victor, is a winner. Every person that has survived the hunger games lost. The one's who died are the real victors." I don't have to worry about the capitol hearing me. I get to go back to District Thirteen after this.

I pull back my axe and swing. I have to close my eyes so I don't see what will surly break me down.

The one who survived was almost always exploited by the Capitol, I'd never be allowed to forget being in here, they would make sure of that. I watched a he closed his eyes and swung his axe at me, searing pain burned through my arm as he left a gash in my right forearm. It hurt like a bitch but I would let it show, I wouldn't let them see that they were winning. I felt the life inside me nudge me, as if encouraging me, telling me you can do it mommy. Mommy, I'm going to be a mommy and no one will take that away from me energy coursed through my body, I wouldn't let the Capitol take my baby away from me, especially not him.

I looked at the scarlet dripping off my right forearm and felt anger course through me. I didn't care that he wanted to win. I was going to fight, I was going to live and I was going to prove that a pregnant girl could win the games. I looked at him. "Not only do I have my family to fight for, I have a life inside me that I have to protect. I have to give them a chance to live, to love, to grow up. I can't let my baby die before they've even been born. I can't break Reagan's heart and I can't let my parents watch me die. I'm sorry Stryk, I'm so sorry but I have to kill you" My voice trembled as I raised my dagger. I wouldn't let Reagan and My's baby die before he or she could meet their father and their grandparents. I would deal with the consequences when I got home for my revelation but right now I didn't care. Tears streamed down my face, freezing against my cheeks, making it hard to see. I launched myself at him, my dagger ready to end it.

After the pain subsided a little bit I spoke again, "You're not the only one that has a family to fight for. Every year, 23 teenagers die. This is the 46th games! Each of those teeneagers had something that drove them to come back home. Why do you feel like you deserve it more than any other person that came here. You realize, some of these kids support their family, so once they died, the whole family dies with them. I believe that a true reason to live, has to be more than family. Mine is, mine has nothing to do with family. Mine is rebellion." Now I would never survive a day in Panem. Thank goodness I'm going back to thirteen.

I have to win now. There is no other way. I grip my axe and lash out again. This time, eyes open.

"I don't want to start a rebellion, I don't care what the Capitol does to me, I just want to go home, your reasoning I can see but sometimes, just wanting to rebel isn't good enough, I have the fire to drives every breath I take, it drives me to be victor, I don't care that you're starting a rebellion, I'm getting the hell out of this arena and I'm getting out alive" I cried, feeling the tears in my eyes turn to rage. I'd seen enough people die, I'd witnessed enough death. I was done with this fucking game the Capitol was playing with me. This would end here and now, I didn't care that he was trying to start a rebellion, look how the last one turned out. It's what landed us both in this damned arena. "You won't win, you know that, the capitol always wins, that's just the way it is. If the districts had just stayed calm and done what the capitol had asked, we wouldn't be here fighting each other to the death." I said softly. My anger flashed, somewhere deep down, I was scared, I didn't like this part of me, this angry Fenna who killed to get what she wanted, who took children away from their family's. I hated this part but also a part of me loved her, a part of me wanted to let her free.

I fought with myself for a moment before the angry part of myself won and red clouded my vision. This was what happened when you pissed off Mama Fenna. Mama Fenna, that sounds nice I launched myself at him, my dagger poised to end it all.

I cut him on the hip and felt horror as I realized that he was about to die. What have I done? I asked myself, falling to my knees. "I'm sorry, Stryk, I'm so so sorry. But I have to go home," I said, feeling tears fall down my face. I looked up to the sky, sobs beginning to wrack my body. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," I cried, covering my face as I curled into a ball, the snow stopping as he finally died and I heard Claudius Templesmith's voice boom. "I present to you the Victor of the 46th annual hunger Games, from District five, Fenna Fox" It boomed within my ears but I couldn't move. I just wanted to join Stryk in death, instead I was going home, I was going to have my baby and I was going home to Reagan. I looked up as the hovercraft dropped a ladder down and reached out, grabbing onto the bars. I looked down at Stryk, his body covered in blood as I was lifted onto the hovercraft. I'm sorry Stryk, I hope you find peace I thought, before I was deposited into the hovercraft and the world went black.
