Just Another Day ( open to all )

Mason woke up after a brief shake in bed from his parents. Right now Mason was annoyed, he hated getting up when he wanted to sleep but he had a job to do as an assistant blacksmith. He thought about yesterday where he went to the academy to train for the hunger games. Roughly a year to go until the next games happened and Mason was still curious on who from this district aside from himself would be going into the games with himself. He hoped he wouldn't need to volunteer so he could remain relatively a secret but his height would raise some eyebrows.

Sighing as he got up Mason went downstairs to eat. His whole family was here this morning which meant it would be another awkward breakfast for him. He always ignore his brother because he was too busy with his job and training for the hunger games to spend time with him. He sat at the table eating silently and got up when he was done. He wasn't in a mood to eat this morning. Heading to the door he turned back at his parents and somewhat to his brother "I will be back at the usual time, I have to take care of business". His parents would be working but out of the three of them Mason was working more then usual because it helped keep him busy to avoid his brother and any unwanted distractions. Heading out the door Mason took in a good gulp of fresh air before walking off towards the direction of the academy to train before his job required him to work.

The day was somewhat good today. Although I don't really watch this, since there are more important deeds out there, in the open world than skies, trees and other cute and girlish stuff like that. After I woke up, I didn't realized how late I am. I wanted to do those extra training lessons in the Academy, just to kill it off, but I guess those will be off today. As I place my foot on the ground I realize that it is another day thinking of where Grace could be, and how does Alex feel. Anyways, that is not the first and most important thing to do now, I am starving like hell, and I should get something to eat before I feel the pain of the growling of hunger stomach. I got little piece of cloth, with which I tied my hair, tossing it behind my back. I don't like the thing with the tails over your shoulder, because it really disturbs me while I train. I really don't like the girls in the Academy that make them pretty and can't do damn thing down there. I put on my shoes which are somewhere under my ankle, simple pants, but not too long, because I don't want to swim in sweat like a pig in front of all these kids training to be Careers, and of course, a simple shirt with extremely short sleeves. That was most likely my daily outfit. I saw my father from the window, going to work in the mines. District Two had the industry similar to Twelve. Mining. But we are certainly the "lucky" miners.

For breakfast there were pancakes. With jam of berries. My mother hate those, but I on my side love them, so maybe she made them specially for me. I eat my pancakes, feeling the little pieces of berries in my mouth, juice of sweet nectar exploding, leaving the sweet taste in myself and also a little purple stamp on my upper lip. After I finished with this, I simply tied my shoes, and went out. The warm heat blew my face. It was really warm, but it is summer I guess it is ordinary to be like this. Though there were few black clouds, but the black which indicates the "My name is Mister Thunderstorm.". I saw a guy walking in front of me, apparently walking to the Academy too. How does it come that I have never saw him before, training? Never mind.

After even the first Ten minutes or something, I couldn't get my eyes off the stranger met on my way to the training Academy. He was fighting good indeed. I shook my head in order to get my eyes on the training dummy. I got my little knife, which is, by the way, deadly.. I aimed at the little red dot indicates the heart of the dummy. And I threw it. Just that I didn't saw it going there. My hands are sweaty, It seems I threw it to the exact same guy I stared the most of the time. He was far, really really far, you have a good sneak on him, but to talk you need a good screaming so he can hear you and the other. The blade was twirling on his way, but slowly going down. I don't know if he saw this but the blade stopped right next to his foot. I awkwardly walked to the location of the little blade, and bowed, in order to get it. And that's when my eyes met his.

Mason turned around once he heard this weird noise. He looked down next to his foot and saw a knife and when he bent down on one knew in order to examine this knife he met the eyes of some women from the academy right there in front of him. He looked her straight in the eyes and he felt like something good happened to have met her but then he remembered that a knife lies right next to his foot and he gathered that she was the one who threw it and that made him extremely mad.

He looked at this woman one last time before standing up and taking the knife before she could. He walked a little ways toward a training dummy and threw it will all of his force before turning around without even bothering to look at how well he threw the knife. "You there why don't you tell me why you tried to kill me, I saw the knife at my foot, if this is the best district two has to offer for the hunger games then this district needs to step it up if we are to win this year." He stood there with his arms crossed waiting for this unknown woman to respond to his question.

Some strange feeling is born in me. His eyes, the eyes of the unknown man was staring right in mine. I know that he won't be kind to me and let me go, he will ask millions of questions, why have I done this. His appearance is not the one that the nice boys have. He is a fighter. Wanting to kill. Just like me. By the time I realize what's happening, he got the knife and threw it to one of the tall dummies. He threw it fairly good, but the knife throwing.. it's not for him. I see him in the future, grabbing that sword and stabbing me or try to. Than, I her his voice.
"You there why don't you tell me why you tried to kill me, I saw the knife at my foot!" Oh someone is scared from little knifes, i think. The little note of anger is on his face. Than another sentence comes from his mouth. "If this is the best district two has to offer for the hunger games then this district needs to step it up if we are to win next* year." He is right. But I wouldn't try to kill him, because by the way he fights, District Two will be only happy they reaped him. I am staring in his eyes again and my lips open to tell him: "No one tried to kill you. Get over it and continue playing with your sword."

I picked up my little dagger, and got back to my spot. I concentrated now, my hand flowing through my pants, so I can erase the sweat from them. I got the dagger from the little table. My eyes focused on the target dummy, which seems like scared from my moves. The count goes in my head.

I throw the dagger all the way to the target dummy right in the red little dot, which indicated the perfect score, if the knife or whatever you throw there of course. I can feel that the half of the room watches at me because what happened with the boy over there. The dagger flies with furious, when it finally lands. It lands right in the spot where a human would be normally dead. I can feel everyone surprised, thinking I would be a good future tribute, but some stare at me like I am some danger after what happened before 5 minutes. I turn my head to the right side, and saw The Boy Scared of Knifes looking at me.

*This year both of the tributes from D2 are dead, so I edited that to "next"

Mason was furious when he heard this woman say no one tried to kill him. "No one tried to kill me? then why was a knife thrown near my foot?, did you want my attention or something?, well you certainly got it now." When Mason saw the unknown woman pick up a knife he half expected her to try and finish what he thought was her desire to kill him. He was even more surprised when she when right back to a training dummy with the knife as if she wanted to prove a point by hitting her target this time. When the knife hits the target Mason wasn't too impressed with her.

Walking toward a group of training weapons on a table Mason looked for a weapon to use and finally picked up a sword. "Here why don't I show you a much better way to kill if that is what you are trying to do." Handling his sword he went to another dummy. Staring at the dummy with cold calm eyes made such a fast thrust with it that by the time he was done pulling it out of the targets heart he had already attacked another dummy that was behind him. "So Misses with knives what do you think?, maybe I should volunteer next year or maybe not, I wouldn't want to be paired with you." Mason put the training sword back for now, he didn't want to kill this woman out of anger and ruin his chances to be reaped.

The cliche sword wielding. Oh please, he thinks he can impress me with that? I watched a little, how he stabbed the first dummy, and as he charged to the next one i shook off my head, and picked medium sized dagger, made of silver, with black as the night sky handler. I saw other knifes too, it was a big and good choice of quality blades. I picked them up all in my right hand, preparing to throw them off, flying at the 3 dummies, which were this time moving and glowing, indicating which should be stabbed first. As I gather my thoughts in my head, I hear him scream through the stations "Maybe I should volunteer next year or maybe not, I wouldn't want to be paired with you." My eyes shrank, something inside of me burned to show him from what material I am made of. The air in the room was so low, that the breathing was almost impossible. Or maybe that was just me. I turned around the dummies, with my back facing them. I got the three little knifes in my right hand and, the big one in my left. Left. My non-dominant hand.

I heard the first target flashes. When they flash, you hear that weird sound form them. I turned back and threw the knives at each dummy as the flashed. And then when the fourth one flashed, i threw the knife with the big black handler, with my left hand, striking right into the dot that indicates the heart of the dummy. I turned around to the man I almost killed, oops, and screamed back to him. "Are you sure you will want to volunteer? Because I don't know if District Two will get a winner, with Mister Scared of Knives in the Games!". Now definitely all eyes was on me. On us.

Mason was beyond furious now at the woman. He was mildly impressed with the knives being thrown but what she said afterwards brought his fury to a boiling point. "Scared of knives huh?, at least I can aim when I throw a knife, at least I can handle a weapon unlike you". Mason had said those words as he got another sword and marched right toward the unknown woman. He wanted her to think he would kill her but instead he would do something that probably would shock her. He had a smile on his face when he saw a people staring at the rising situation going on. If he was one of the people staring he to would be interested to see some viciousness here, that these tributes are still readying themselves for the games even while current ones were going on.

Mason had stopped just short of the unknown woman. He would wait to see her reaction to his words before he made his next move. He thought back to earlier in the day when he left home. What a story this would be to tell at the dinner table tonight. He would be telling this story that's for sure. He dearly hoped this woman here in front of him had some fire in her, he didn't see the fire the desire to win for the district in anyone here currently at the academy. He needed to know he could count on his district partner whenever he gets reaped or if he volunteers.

After these words of mine, I felt the fury inside of him, but also, the impression on his face, after my little knife throwing there. The fury was definitely on his face now. He grabbed a sword, charging at me. But he didn't knew me. The smile of his face, his teeth shining, hoping that I will scare my pants, and runaway or call the Peacekeepers? I know he wouldn't dare to throw that sword at me. Would he? The crows was watching, I bet they would want some "accident" to happen. The fire in me burns, in way that nobody expect or know. And about that men coming with shiny sword in his hand, ready to kill me off, when no one watches? It's ridiculous. As his feet stopped next to mine, his face towards mine, eyes in eyes I told him silently:

"You think I am scared? You think you will scare me off with some swords in front of the whole Academy and the Peacekeepers down there on the doors? Well good try. But I think it's mine time to impress you know." The smile appeared on my face. The wall behind him was made of something, unknown to us, which reflects things. Whatever it is. I got a little knife. Three of them. I threw them at the wall, making their path come across his left ear. They hit the wall, coming back to us with furious pointers. He was surely going to turn back, but I placed my hands behind his neck, with the knifes landing right behind his neck, between my fingers. After that, i let him go and throw them at the next miserable dummy, right next to me. And him.

Mason was amused at what seemed to him her need to impress him. She must know that he is probably the strongest tribute district two now has to offer for the hunger games and she want to impress him. His hand went to the scar on his face, This scar was the result of his stupidity in not being able to handle weapons when he was helping out at his job. He swore to himself to learn how to wield a weapon and now? he felt like he could wield any weapon. He hoped the peacekeepers wouldn't be paying attention so he could snap this woman's neck for trying to kill him.

Mason felt her hands behind his neck. Again he was furious, but this time it was because she layed her hands on him. "What in the world are you doing?" After another display of throwing knives by her, he decided to stick around and watch what she could do. His eyes met hers briefly after her last knife was thrown. He wouldn't let any emotion show on his face just yet. Truth be told in his mind Mason was beginning to get impressed by her, he felt right now that she was a good candidate to be reaped or volunteer and that made him feel good to know that at least one other potential tribute was taking the hunger games seriously this year.

Enough. Sometimes you can't have enough of something. Something sweet, food, water or something like this. And in other situations you are tired and sick of one place that you want to leave it. I had enough for today from the training, and will probably get back in home sooner than expected. I know he was impressed. Whatever he says. That was hell out of a trick that I pulled there. The Peacekeepers didn't really bothered though. If we are alive by now, they are probably asleep behind those masks. I untied my hair, letting it flow on my back. I the piece of cloth in my jacket pocket and step aside from the man, form the dummies, from anything in the Academy. The heat hits me again, the black clouds were gone. I couldn't handle myself anymore. Hope he does not follow me. I don't want to see his face. The ground was warm, and form here I could see some of the mining entrances. I also saw my father, but I get sick when I watch him too. There was this place around the rich streets of District Two, with 2 rocks. One small and one large. That was my place. And normally when someone is there, and I appear, they are: a. Scared of me so they pack up their things and leave me alone, b. .. Well I don't know for something else. I sat on the little one placing my back on the large one and get a little rock to play with.

I pull a really little, almost invisible for the eye knife, and I start to toss it around my hands. And I get back in the training room today. When I placed my hands on his neck I felt the scar. It was rough, since his skin felt like this. It had the shape of sword cut. "Who can't wield a weapon now?" I say silently, with tossing the little knife more and more.

Mason was quiet pissed off that this unknown woman touched his scar. He thought back to when he got it. He was carrying weapons to be shipped off to the capitol, but Mason was carrying too many of them because they were about to leave and his ass would of been in extreme trouble if they didn't get the weapons shipment. He has lost his group on a few weapons and when he bent down to retrieve them his hand slipped and a sword cut across his face. After that incident he told himself he would keep the scar as a reminder that he could never be too careful again.

He noticed the woman had left the training center. He wanted to know what the heck she was up to so he also left. He spotted her far off in the distance and was curious after what happened with him why she would suddenly just leave like that. After watching her for a short time in this place which he cant ever remember seeing with two rocks he revealed himself at last. "Hey there did you miss me?" Mason tried not to burst out laughing as he spoke.

Some people are dumb enough, so they could never heard of privacy. This was something nice, in some situations though, otherwise you should smack that thing over and over 'till it's gone. However, the man obviously did not. I formed my fist, just for the sake of hiding the miniature knife. I put my circled perfect fist into my pocket of the jacket. I placed my foot on the ground, standing in front of the slightly taller man from the training room. "Why would anyone even want you?" I sarcasticly answered. Than I remembered the scar on his face. I didn't intended to touch him right there, my hand came across it, I didn't even knew he had one.. Than the you-can't-wield-a-weapon thing came across my mind. My lips grinned on my face, opening to say the thing which he wouldn't expect.. Maybe he is just the 'oh perfect tribute' type of boy.

"Interesting scar you have there." At least it felt interesting. "What did you said about myself can't wielding a weapon?" I, again, sarcasticly smiled at him, but he should not expect kindness from me soon. As I was standing, I put my back against the taller and larger rock. I get out a berry, left from breakfast, toss it in the air and catch it with my mouth. Feeling the little pieces of berries in my mouth, juice of sweet nectar exploding in my mouth was almost as good as my words before just a few seconds.

"Want me? What do you mean......". Mason was confused by what was said. He didn't know what she meant by that in the slightest bit. He suspected it had to do with how he looked. His scar..... he felt proud of his scar despite how he got it because to him it made him look more badass to have something of that nature on his face and still be alive. His sword wound could of been much worse and he feels lucky to have gotten only a scar compared to what could of happened. His hand went to his scar again. It still feels weird for him to touch it even though its been a long time since he got the injury. When his parents saw it they freaked out a bit, but he assured them that all was well and that he would keep it.

Mason snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the woman mention his scar and what he said earlier about how she couldn't wield a weapon at all. "How do you know I didn't get this scar in a fight? I can handle a weapon quite easily unlike you who missed a simple stationary target by a wide margin." Mason sat down on the ground. He was not happy with this woman continuing to mention his scar. What was it about the scar that interested her so much? Mason didn't have an answer to that question. He does however know if she keeps asking about it he will let her think he got it in a fight rather then an accident since no one was there to see it except himself and the capitol merchant.

He apparently did not heard of sweaty hands. Although he definitely have experienced it. That scar ain't from an accident from the wild, and he have nowhere to fight with a sword with someone. It's just a sloppy work with weapons. My grin was still on the face. "Well, my hands were a bit sweaty, but I bet you do know the feeling, by the look of the scar, you have experienced it." My grin was bigger and bigger, shining like the sun. I picked up my almost invisible for the eye to catch knife and start to play with it again. There were some strange noises in or behind the bush, but I don't think someone or something is there. Who would know this place? Except him, by rudely stalking me. "And what is the name of The Boy Scared of Knives?" I asked, my grin becoming smaller. I met his eyes once again, and that's when, in the second after that I met a pair of eyes in the bushes. 3 of them.

When the eyes sensed that I have saw them they jumped revealing them. Some group of strangers, which apparently love to jump. The literally flew over the man form the Academy and landed behind me, which was quite a distance, for the fact that the bushes themself where not really close to him. One of the boys grabbed my neck, controlling my head making sure my face hits the ground. I could feel the blood form my face wanting to explode from my nose. Who were they? What did they wanted? The knife I actually carried may be something which I can use against them. I got it in my head, aiming for his eye, like literally, for his eye. The little pointer of the miniature knife landed somewhere there, but enough so he can start to scream from pain. I should make sure I would not kill anybody. There were no Peacekeepers around, which means rules are not in charge. I met the eyes of the Academy boy again this time little different. Crying for help.

Mason was beginning to get annoyed with the woman's appointed nickname she gave him. How was he scared of knives when he found one by his foot? He most certainly was not scared of knives. He was a career for crying out loud and he didn't fear being hurt or being killed. But he did expect if he was to be reaped that he would make it to the end, he was confident in his abilities and if district two one of the strongest districts if not the strongest currently had weak tributes then he definitely liked his chances on winning the hunger games.

He turned around to see the woman being attacked for no reason whatsoever and he saw in her eyes that she was asking for help. He didn't think twice about helping her he thought these kids were pathetic for ganging up on her. He charged the guy who was holding her down and pushed him off of her. He was furious at their cowardice and the second guy attacking her he punched right in the face and he went flying into the large rock. He then attacked the third guy by spearing him right in the chest. He repeatedly punched him in the face. He turned toward the woman. "Name is Mason by the way"
