Phenom's mood was improving despite how annoying the girl was. It occurred to him that she could have a bad history, but then he didn't give a damn whether her past was a good one or a bad one. All he cared about was her potential to kill in the games. "I don't give a damn what you went through in the past. You should learn that the hunger games and becoming a victor is all that matters. Your history? I don't care about your history. Unless it includes training for the games which is quite obvious that it doesn't then who cares. Your heart aches? Then fix it for ripred's sake. I want to see some backbone not a whiny and pathetic girl." His ranting surprised even him a little bit. It was amusing to have spoken though. "And as for being your district partner? I wouldn't be surprised if any of your career girlfriends volunteered. I thought you wanted a worthy person. People who 'devote their life for the honor of representing District One in the Hunger Games'." So she was expecting other girls to volunteer. That was interesting news to him. "Career girlfriends? Don't make me laugh. I have no feelings for any girl in this district. My mind is focused only on the games and I have no feelings for anyone in this world. No matter who is worthy in this district to fight on my side they would die by my hand in the end." Honor. That is all he cared about and winning the games would bring heaps of it. "I knew you wouldn't." He snatched her skateboard. "I could still do it you know. I plan on being in the arena before I kill someone."

I want to see some backbone not a whiny and pathetic girl." Phenom replied back. I glared at him, but for some reason the words felt like an inspirational speech rather than an insult. But I shook the thought away. There was mutual hate between us, he would never give me words of encouragement in a million years.
"I take that whiny girl thing as a compliment." I spat back crossly. "And ok, tell me how to not care. Tell me how to let go of everything. Tell me how to become a robot and have a stone heart. Tell me how to be as disturbing as you." My eyebrows furrowed downward with each word I spoke, the last sentence leaving me with a hard expression. Anger and irritation burned in my eyes, my mouth curved into an unhappy frown.
"Career girlfriends? Don't make me laugh. I have no feelings for any girl in this district. My mind is focused only on the games and I have no feelings for anyone in this world. No matter who is worthy in this district to fight on my side they would die by my hand in the end."
I held my unamused expression. I didn't have anything to say back, other than,
"My god, you're impossible."
He took my skateboard. And no one takes my skateboard. I clench my hands into fists and let out a growl. "Give. It. Back. NOW." I said intensely through gritted teeth. It even surprised me. Before I could even tell myself to stop, I reached up my leg and instinctively aimed a hard kick towards the chest.

"I take that whiny girl thing as a compliment." "And ok, tell me how to not care. Tell me how to let go of everything. Tell me how to become a robot and have a stone heart. Tell me how to be as disturbing as you.". The words should of insulted him, but in reality he was impressed by them. Already she seemed to be gaining a backbone after only being in his presence for a short amount of time. Her comments about him being a robot with a stone heart also amused him. No one drilled it in his head to be that way, but himself. He always loved the whole idea of devoting himself to winning the hunger games for the district. "Do you really want to know how to be a monster and a psychotic? Well you devote yourself to the whole 'career' ideals. Act like one instead of a coward with feelings. If you want to become as sadistic as me then please for the love of ripred grow a backbone." Whether Cleo was serious or not didn't matter to him. "Give. It. Back. NOW." Cleo aimed a kick at his chest. Phenom could of blocked it, but Cleo impressed him and he allowed himself to take the kick and go flying to the ground. He sprung up as if nothing happened even though his arm had a scrape from the fall. "Well well well. Maybe I can bring out the career buried inside of you."

"Do you really want to know how to be a monster and a psychotic? Well you devote yourself to the whole 'career' ideals. Act like one instead of a coward with feelings. If you want to become as sadistic as me then please for the love of ripred grow a backbone." Sarcasm must be a foreign language for Phenom. Then again, careers were always like this. Too serious about everything. I've never seen one truly loosen up and joke around. If he's going to hang out with me, he's going to have to change that.
Wait. What did I just say?
"Well, at least you used your manners." I smile through my angry expression. C'mon. Take a joke.
So he took my skateboard. I kicked him in the center of the chest. Skateboarding was more useful than he expected, I suppose. It builds leg muscle. As I heard him impact the ground, I stifled laughter. Not because I hurt just anyone. I hurt the arrogant career Phenom. And that felt good. But the feeling quickly left me and I raised my hand to my mouth. I was about to whisper I'm sorry when he popped up as if I hadn't even kicked him at all.
"Well well well. Maybe I can bring out the career buried inside of you." He smirks. I chuckle and raise an eyebrow, my anger completely vanished from my face. I grab my skateboard swiftly and look him straight in the eye.
"I would really rather you not." A smile pressed my lips. "But I do have to admit, kicking you was pretty fun."
