MMATHEW DUNHAM
The sliding doors in front of me look a little too familiar for my taste. For almost a whole month I’ve been back and forth to the hospital and know it inside out by now. I got out of the first battle so clean that I though I was invincible until the second round came along which made me see the loss of two fingers and a few puncture wounds. I repeatedly had to come back to get those fingers checked and the last battle only made things worse for me. More puncture wounds and a broken arm. I’m a walking disaster and that’s not even speaking of my mental state after loosing and breaking up with Kyanite.
Today I’m back to get those fingers checked once again and the stitches in the back of my leg removed, where Mark so kindly had stuck his spear. So I ignore the doors and step inside to hobble along those long sterile hallways until I reach the registration desk for the walk in patients.
The area is filled with people. Most of them bundled up in some sort of gauze and bandages. There’s an old man with a bandage on his head, two women in dire need of care and a mother with her son whose expression is clearly unhappy.
“We had a few emergencies come in. There’ll be a bit of a wait.” The nurse informs me and hands me a form. “Take a seat.”
“Wonderful.” I mutter before I let my gaze wander around to find a seat as far away from everybody else as I can.
In the corner I find a spot. So I lower myself onto one of the plastic chairs and lean my head against the wall.
There’s nothing else to do than watch the other patients out of curiousity.
