It's a strange feeling being trapped in a burning building. Smoke flew through his lungs scorching them. It felt like someone took a match and lit his entire insides on fire. Breathing hurt. Each breath felt like his chest was drawing tighter and tigther. Liquid poured from his eyes as he clenched them shut. No, Indigo Tornhell wasn't crying. The heat was unbearable as the man frantically tried putting out the fires. Indigo stood with his teeth showing.
It didn't matter what had just happened. That this man was losing his entire world. That something else was going wrong inside. Indi was having fun. A careless act had gone too far out of control.
"You should be."
The man grabs buckets of water and starts putting out the fires. Sweat rolls down Indi's face. Opening his eyes, he searches around trying with all he had to remain conscious as the poison spread further and further throughout his entire body. Hands shook at his side. His vision was clouding. It all felt so strange, yet at the same time, there was this taste to it. One of pride and joy.
"Hey! In here!"
His gaze shot around as he tried looking through the thick cloud of smoke. Violent coughs escaped from his lips, and Indi bent forward throwing up whatever was inside of him. The back of his throat was raw. A fire danced inside him. One keeping him alive as another set of stomach acid flew past his lips onto the wooden frame.
"Matthew!" A girl's frantic voice broke through the sound of the fire popping. Bright orange danced before his eyes. He could help them put this fire out, but on the other hand, he could stand and watch the house go down in flames.
"Here. Help me, it's burning."
Indigo laughed.
"Watch out, the pyromaniac is in here."
It was quiet, and all Indigo could hear was the sound of coughs mixing with the popping and cracking of the flames.
"DID YOU DO THIS?" The girl turned away. Indigo stood staring at her. He had found his prize. His hard work had come to an end. His father would finally be pleased with him. Indi could imagine the amount of use she was. He didn't have to worry about his careless mistake as blows rained down over him. This one would bring a smile to the face of a not-so-caring man.
"Aren't you such a beautiful lady." His voice was quiet to start out with as he stepped over towards her. "I knew the hard work would pay off because now I have found my prize."
He stopped.
"Yeah. She would make a wonderful trophy."
