Name: Terra Perthshire
Age: 16 Years Old
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 7
Appearance:
Terra Perthshire, a rather average sized girl, is someone that would be easy to describe, yet appealing to the eye. This young girl stands easily at 5'6 and weights anywhere between 115 and 130. With her height, comes long legs. Aiding in her running and climbing if and when it comes down to it. Sitting often blankly in her head are hazel blue eyes flecked with green nearing the outer edges. Her dark brown hair cascades down her spine and ends just above mid back. Her hair is naturally straight, usually very easy to keep out of the way. She'll often just have it pulled loosely back in a ponytail or braided over her right shoulder, but rarely ever will it be wildly hanging down.
Even though she weighs significantly less than the majority of her district, she can definitely hold her own. She usually will use her longer legs when she climbs up trees to chop off branches when needed. And even though she has the tendency to come off as weak and fragile, she has very good upper body strength. She often helps to haul some of the chopped pieces of wood the lumberjacks cut off the trees. Her largest strong suit is likely her appealing looks, though. A lot of the women in District 7 are much more rough around the edges, particularly the older women who have worked for years, where as Terra looks full of life and sticks out of the crowd, offering her better bargains in the market and an easier capability of staying on the peace keepers' good side.
Personality:
If one were to look at Terra from a distance, they'd see an attractive girl that was, strange enough, unapproachable. To any that don't know her, she will often come off as snobbish or rude because of her anti-social personality. But the real truth behind it is she just takes a while to crack out of her shell. The only way she can really and truly break out of that tough outer lining and speak up is when she's working with the people she cares about and knows or when she's bargaining with merchants. She had always had an excellent way with words. That one trait alone assists her daily when she is working, shopping, and even getting herself and her fellow citizens out of trouble.
When someone is finally able to scratch her surface and dig deeper, they will eventually find a pretty loving and friendly girl. She'll do just about anything for her friends and family, even at the extent of her life. But usually when she is faced with a direct threat just to herself, her fight or flight instinct kicks in and more often times than not, flight over comes fight and she takes off. She usually doesn't have to worry too much about getting in to trouble as she's usually pretty well in line.
When in her deepest, most sentimental moments, that's when people would get to see much more thoroughly in to Terra's personality. And with that precious moment, will come a special trust that is still very fragile, yet strong at the same time. This one moment is generally the start of a very strong and close relationship. Terra's friendships are things rarely seen in District 7. Many have seen her with many acquaintances, but there has rarely been a time where she'd make a friend. The only people really in touch with her softer, more sentimental side, are her parents.
History:
Terra's child hood was like any other kid in District 7. She was born to very wonderful parents, raised with the things she needed for the most part, as District 7 was generally a middle class society. Now, she didn't have all the fancy clothes and luxuries of the more wealthy districts, she knew, but she was still just lucky to have been born here rather than in the further districts. Throughout school, she was taught specifically about her district, and on occasion, the other districts surrounding them, but it would only go so far as to learn their trades and how they would benefit their own district.
But then they had the chilling time each year, the reaping. Being an only child and not being poor meant she didn't have to apply for tesserae. That slimmed down her chances from being pulled from that pool of girls. She was actually quite lucky. Never had her name been uttered from the lips of the announcer. She had seen many girls get pulled from that bowl, many girls get led to their death. It really does change how you view and value life, and she truly does just that. During those days of the Hunger Games, Terra would often hide away in her room, not really wanting to see the blood bath. But there were those times where she had no choice.
On the brighter side, her parents were always very supportive and protective of Terra. That meant when she started helping out in the forests, they were never out of her sight. She formed a few acquaintanceships with the workers and a single friendship. She grew rather close to a boy named Warren. They were inseparable, a brother and sister sort of thing many had described it. The two would be seen practically every where together. That was, until the day Warren had ideas of rebellion, and hatred towards the capitol. His thoughts had led to action and he went after the peace keepers but was put down quick. This led to a devastated Terra. She never truly recovered from seeing her best friend's mangled body laying on the ground in the forest, at least ten peace keepers surrounding him. He died quickly after being shot, but she swore she had locked eyes with him in his final moments.
Seeing what happened to her friend, and what happens during the game every year, kept the girl, and everyone else in line. This led to a simple lifestyle. Wake up, go to school, work, sleep. That repeated. Year round actually.
