YOU HAVE ALWAYS WORN YOUR
FLAWS UPON YOUR SLEEVE ―
FLAWS UPON YOUR SLEEVE ―
Fuck. There it was again. He was so happy when the topic of his confession was dropped. Was this just a way for Killua to bring it back up again? Of course, he had other regrets from the last 24 hours. He always had regrets. Last night him and his dad had a pretty bad fight. Normally it was his dad stirring shit, and normally Adrian was pretty good at ignoring it. But last night was different. It wasn't his dads fault. His dad didn't start anything. His dad didn't escalate anything. It was all fucking Adrian. He started it. He escalated it. And he regretted it.
His dad came home drunk, and Adrian was just tired of it all. He was tired of pretending he was okay with his drinking. He was tired of the smell of alcohol. He was tired of dealing with his dad drunk. He was just fucking tired. So he said something. Something he had never even thought of telling his dad before. And something he'd never say again. That was for damn sure. Now what did he say? What escaped his filter that he so carefully used.
'Maybe it's a good thing she died, that way she doesn't have to fucking deal with you anymore.'
That was too far. He had no clue why he said it. That morning, after they were both sober, he had a talk with his dad that ended up with him getting thrown out of the house. Normally that made Adrian pretty upset. But this time? This time he understood. He messed up big time. Honestly he would have kicked himself out of the house if he was in his dads position too. His dad may have drunkenly connected Adrian to his moms death from time to time. But he would never say that to his sons face nor would he ever say it's a good thing she died. Yeah he was still a piece of shit that would beat Adrians ass, but you can't win everything.
That situation is why Adrian suddenly asked Killua to hang out for the day. Normally when he got kicked out he just asked to crash at a friends house for a couple of days. Of course he never told them the real reason why he needed to stay over. But, today his excuse was real flimsy. He was upset and not in a good headspace when he texted Killua. Honestly no excuse would be better than his current one. His excuse was that his neighbours were doing renovations and the sounds annoyed him.
That excuse doesn't work for a few reasons, if you really analyse the situation. The first reason is that Adrian could just find somewhere to go during the day and go back home at night, they couldn't do loud renovations at night - especially in such a nice neighbour hood. The second reason is that your neighbours doing renovations doesn't cause fresh bruises on your arms and chest just underneath the sweater you're wearing despite how warm the weather is. In fact, as he rested an arm on Killua's leg, one bruise on his wrist was peaking out from the bottom of his sleeve. The bruise was actually five small ones. They were all about the size of a finger as if someone gripped and squeezed his wrist. And finally, Adrian never drank or smoked (weed or cigarettes) when Killua or anyone had offered before. Why would he suddenly now? Of course, most people wouldn't think about this unless they were extremely manipulative and/or sociopathic.
No, no he definitely couldn't tell Killua all of that. He had to address the elephant in the room. That was better than talking about the shit was his dad. He looked away from Killuas face and instead looked at his legs that were across Adrians lap. He couldn't make eye contact while he talked about this, even when high. And his face was turning pink once again. The drugs really made his mask crumble. He still had some filter, but it was weak and hazy.
"I- I regret saying what I did in the other room. I don't know, maybe it's because I haven't dated anyone in a while. It just kinda popped up in my head. It's not like it's something I've been thinking about for a while. Yeah you're a really attractive guy. But like it's not like I'm into guys like that. You're just like pretty and I think the weed fucked with me and made me say all of that stuff when I didn't really mean it."
His filter and the weed were at war right now and it was a glorious dumpster fire.
