Ivan Rin
~
The kid got his ass kicked by a career in a sparring match, yet Ivan still felt like he was worth helping. Ivan had worked with Six O'Malley. What was stopping him from working with Abel O'Malley and trying to help him do better than Six did? Absolutely nothing. Ivan had this deep desire inside him to prove he was the best, and sometimes, when you're a trainer, the way to do that is to train the best.
When Ivan trained Flynn and the kid came out victorious, he got a lot of praise. He felt good about himself, and everyone he knew seemed to be his hype squad until Six didn't make it as far as he had hoped that he would. Maybe that was just what Ivan got for trying to get a lower district kid to win the Games, or maybe it was just bad luck, if luck even existed. Ivan wasn't too fond of calling things to do with fighting "luck" because nine times out of ten, it was purely skill that would get you far, in his opinion.
Regardless of why Six didn't do well, Ivan was going to make the attempt to work with Abel. Now, of course, he'd need to approach this kid differently. People with different personalities required different methods of approach. He didn't want to be too gentle with him and have him refuse to listen because of that, but he also didn't want to be too harsh for the same reason. Just the right amount of strict, tough love would likely be the way to go about it.
So, Ivan went up to Abel O'Malley, and decided that he was going to speak to him, train him, and make him into the strongest form of himself that he could be.
"Abel," Ivan said as he approached him. "I'm Ivan, head trainer here. I saw your sparring match. I'm going to teach you a few things. Come with me."
Ivan wasn't presenting it as a question or an option. It was a matter of: this is what I'm telling you that you're going to do, so you're coming with me and you're going to do what I say. Usually, Ivan wouldn't be so demanding, but it seemed like this may be what Abel needed. He supposed he'd find out, though, as he could be totally wrong.
