Name: Bastian Fray
District: 1
Age: Eighteen
I must say, your District made quite the splash at the Tribute Parade. Tell us what you were feeling up there! Confident, nervous, excited?
“Like I ate a bad steak. I ain’t one for crowds. But the armor, though, that was fuc— that was sick. Sampson outdid himself.”
How confident do you feel about the games now that you've seen your Training Score?
“Eh.”
What about the other tributes? Intimidating? Interesting? Irritating?
“Lots of children. Lots of kids. Have you seen Aurora? She’s like, five foot one.”
What has impressed you most about the Capitol since you've been here?
“Eh. The scenery? The people? Oh, the gym equipment, now that’s real impressive. And the hologram technology is real cool, too. I bet I beat up about a hundred holo’s this month. They go poof!”
Tell us what a typical day in your shoes is like back home. Do you work? Do you have any hobbies or secret talents?
“Is gang activity considered work?”
What about romance? Cute as you are, I bet there is someone back home waiting, right?
“Nah. Commitment’s a red flag, babes, so, try not to fall into the trap. No one’s really worth putting a ring on.”
And your family. Sensitive subject, I'm sure, but... could you tell us about them?
“Pretty sure the Capitol knows every inch of us. After all, Justice has… bared it all once or twice. But they’re cool. Dad’s dead, mom’s on the w—oh. Uh, sorry, that was a joke. My mom’s still kicking! Whoo!”
I want to know: What is it that you'll be fighting for in that arena? What is it you want to get back home to?
“My sisters, my brother.”
And your mother?
“Of course. My sweet, sweet mother.”
I'm afraid we're almost out of time. Parting words to the crowd? The tributes? Your friends and family back home?
“Stay tight.”
