The best thing about living in the Capitol is that nothing is actually yours. The fruit? District 11. My clothes? District 8. The medicine tucked away inside my mirror shelves? District 6. There’s nothing that I can truly say is my creation. Well, not the best thing. It makes me feel rather lazy at times- until I remind myself I own one of the best damn night clubs in the Capitol.
Tonight we’ll be returning to our roots - the Bloodbath. As a host of drag entertainment, we had to figure out a schedule where drag would have its place in our club and how to promote it. Everyone in Panem knows what the Bloodbath is. It’s the start of the Games’, the highest point of excitement to see who has the strength to persevere. It’s a battle. It’s bloody. While it doesn’t leave one tribute remaining, in our Bloodbath, one queen remains. It was one of our biggest marketing pulls, because everyone in the Capitol (or mostly everyone, those who are fans of the Games at least) looks forward to it. An opportunity to watch your own live bloodbath once a week? Come on now, that’s sickening.
Back to not owning things, the best part about it is that they don’t own the songs either. They just lipsync.
Tonight we’ll be starting off with two of our best performers. We need it. It’s been a little bit since we’ve hosted our last bloodbath night. We took a break from doing Bloodbath nights because there was some scandal regarding copyright. Who knew that the sauna next door already claimed the right to use ‘Bloodbath’? A few other businesses around us raised some complaints that it wasn’t fair. It got dealt with eventually - who are they to sit in a dark red bath of dirt and call that a bloodbath? I could dye my damn dog red and cover it in dirt and they wouldn’t see a difference.
Upon asking the two queens for their entry lines, I was given “she doesn’t only suck blood out” and “queen of giving a bone”. Rather on brand for a drag queen if you’d ask me. They’re all a bunch of raunchy girls. I often have to print out a new hygiene reminder sheet every other week because it only lasts so long. We also have a shelf of deodorant stocked at all times. I’m sporting my favorite look I normally do on a bloodbath night - slightly slutty, but I’m a married man now. I have to keep it sex casual. Some chest, some ass; you know how it is.
Tonight they’re performing “Strut”, the Slut House Remix 5000. I feel like I’m reading some sex bot name off of the market.
Not that I’ve ever bought one.
There’s a buzz within the club, an excitement. Some of the old regulars that we had coming to every single Bloodbath night excited to return. There’s a few new people, first timers, for a drag show.
Lord, they’re in for a ride.
An introduction, and the show is theirs.
