The gates to the Adroxis Ammunitions courtyard have been closed for the past few hours of set-up. Mourn Adroxis stands on the wall and looks down at the street below. People from all over the district have gathered, rich and poor. There was a time when he'd stood down there too, electricity running through his veins, every piece of him on edge with excitement as he waited for the longest night's activities to begin.
Over the years the tradition that Babe Adroxis started near a century ago has changed in small ways but largely stayed the same. Various teams stand at the games square, waiting for the sound of a gun to signal the start of their race. The first to arrive at the Adroxis courtyard would be the reigning champion until next year.
Mourn gazes down at the crowd, a few of his children at his side, the rest participating along with his nieces and nephews. The courtyard below is cold and silent, food is spread out on every table and there is enough booze to take them through the longest night until morning. At its centre, a mountain of wood waits to be lit by the race's winner.
He raises a gun and points it up at the sky. The crowd grows quiet, the district waits, tensing. No pomp, no grandeur needed via a speech for District Nine, they know why they gather tonight. Mourn shoots.
Event:
Hello, it's a parkour race! Here's some more info ooc -
- Competitors start at the games square and race to get to the Adroxis Factory to have the honour of lighting the bonfire that will burn all night to keep back the dark.
- Competitors cannot use the ground. This is a test of skill and many spend all year planning their route to the factory.
- Competitors can work together, dual winners have been awarded in the past
- IC the winner would know that they get to light the solstice bonfire, are celebrated all through the longest night and they get a cash prize of $100.
- This event was first started by Babe Adroxis during the 8th games to bring the district together / in an effort to end inter-rebel cell fighting and turn the focus back towards the rebellion. Though it largely failed, gang members from every faction participate.
Rules are simple and they work like this -
- Whoever reaches the courtyard first wins.
- You cannot touch the floor! Floor is lava!
- blitz posting is encouraged!
- Imagine a game board with thirty spaces. You need to traverse these thirty spaces first to win. Each post you will roll a [1-10] to see how many spaces you can move.
- If someone is within two spaces of you, you can roll a penalty die [1-5] to see if you can shove them off whatever precipice you're on.
- 1 - miss
2 - success
3 - dodge
4 - success
5 - grapple / push back- If you are successful, your opponent must roll a [1-5] on their next turn to move instead of [1-10]. If you roll a five and grapple, it's you who must roll a [1-5] on your next turn.
Prizes -
- Winning the event portion gets you 5 ratmas points! Participating gives you 1 ratmas point per post, so there are no losers here!
- After the race ends, you can post as a party-goer which will give you 1 ratmas point per post.
- You can collect a point per post you make in these events, with a current point cap of 15pts overall.
- If you win an event, you will be awarded 5 points for your win. This does not contribute to the point cap!
