My name is Storm Evans and I live in District 7, home of the lumber indestry in Panem. I've got a small family, and I guess I would consider it a good thing; less mouths to feed for Dad. One of my older brothers, Flint is still in school while my other brother, Ace, helps in the forest with Dad. Mom has been dead for some time now, so I usually make the families's food.
I'm sixteen years old and still in school. I'm the only girl in the family but thats ok with me. My brothers watch out for me and I watch out for them. Many a time, when we were all still in school, bullies would try to corner us but we always beat them to a pulp. Thats what Dad always said, anyways; "Fighting strong is always the key to survival". I sometimes disagree with that but thats another topic.
I don't have many friends, but thats partly because I can be surly alot of the time. Hey, its not my fault I'm that way. Blame the messed up world I live in. Sarcasm is my go-to in a conversation and maybe thats part of the reason I don't really have friends. My brothers have a knack for calling me stubborn alot too, but Dad always said I got that from Mom.
I ain't the prettiest girl in town and I ain't the ugilest either. Long, brown hair thats usually in a braid, and sharp, blue eyes that can shoot a look of smugness off of anyones face, describe my appearance. I'm pretty small for my age; only 4'11'' and around 88 pounds. I'm thin too, but not as thin as some of those starving kids off the streets. I guess you could say I'm pretty healthy and fit. I try to keep my exercise up, escpially during gym at school. The last thing I would want is to be not healthy if my name was drawn for the Hunger Games. Then I really woudn't stand a chance.
My dad and brothers taught me all I needed to know about all the plants in the forest. They study them while at work and sometimes take some home with them to teach me. They have also taught me how to use an ax. I can snap that bad boy fifty feet and hit the target dead center. I'm the fastest runner in my school and climb trees pretty good, me being in a tree district and all. I have this one flaw, though that I hate to think about, let alone see it. It may sound funny, but I absoulty HATE birds. Their feet and sharp talons...ugh just thinking about them makes me shiver.
My standard go to dressing routine is a plain, old t-shirt, a pair of jeans, combat boots on my feet, and a braid in my hair to finish it off. Simple, yet perfect for my type of life style. I'm not a girly-girl if you could already tell. I would'nt be caught dead wearing a dress. Come to think of it, I don't even think I own a dress.
Mom died when I was just seven years old of malaria. I hurt me alot to have her gone and what came next hurt just as bad. I had a younger brother. He was just a year younger than me and was full of jokes and laughter. We were really close and would protect each other with our lives. But then he somehow contracted rabies. The authorities...they shot him on sight once they recognized the symptoms.
I was heart broken. I wouldn't eat or sleep for a couple of weeks until eventually Dad force fed me so I could go back to school after the mourning had past. I was never the same after that and ever since then I have been looking for ways to deal with my anger. I kinda wish that my name will be chosen for the Hunger Games just so I can take out my anger on the other tributes. Its probably not the best idea, but in my mind, it might just keep my sanity.
