District Four was going strong. Sure, I'd lost the election, but I suppose what happens happens, and what's fair is fair. Annie would be a good mayor, too. I was confident in her. I hadn't met her yet, but she was a victor, and to me, victors often knew what they were doing (my daughter Nixie being no exception, despite our disagreements).
Talon's victory tour was underway, and I was sure that a lot would be going on in Four to prepare. Annie had just been elected mayor, and Talon had just been crowned victor after Nixie had been the previous year. We had quite the celebration of victors underway if you asked me.
Annie was someone that, despite running against her in the election, I'd never had a proper conversation with. I decided that that needed to change. I had no harsh feelings toward her. Nothing too negative nor too positive was on my mind when I decided I wanted to speak with her. Neutral feelings were there, and this interaction could decide whether they went one way or another.
It didn't take long to figure out where Annie was. Knocking on her door, I felt a bit awkward and wasn't sure how I was going to strike up this conversation, but I figured it was worth a shot. I wasn't typically the type to get nervous about things, but this seemed a bit different, for some reason or another.
As I waited for her to come to the door, I tried to come up with what I was going to say. What was the best way to approach things? I didn't want her to see me and immediately think I had a problem with her since she'd won. No. So, I decided that the best way to do it was greet her with a kind smile when she opened the door. I wanted to seem at least somewhat polite when she first saw me. That way, I wouldn't deter her for some reason or another. I really didn't know what she was like, so I was hoping she wasn't bitter toward me, either.
