Evaluation 01 : Year of the 7th Hunger Games

She spends the seconds of silence surveying the small cell, no, holding room with an endlessly analytical eye. Muffins, an assortment, at the ready and a chilled bottle of water still cold from the fridge are her current company. It's not her usual environment, but the information it allows her access to, the deposits of desirable data, is not something she can easily ignore. She had asked for this opportunity after all. A chance to meet them all one on one, alone with nothing more than silence to keep apart their thoughts. Who are they? How do they think? How are they handling this entire experience? Invaluable questions in need of actual answers; answers only they can give her. 

She sits in her seat pulling out a pen and turning to the first empty page of a fresh notebook. Her thumb clicks the pen several times as she spares one last glance into the file out beside the notebook before putting it away in the small bag by her chair. Roxanne Burke of District Eleven. The Capitol's data records on the tributes themselves aren't exactly extensive, but she has been able to make due. Her mind wafts over those few lines of highlighter she found fascinating within the report. Mental notes now dancing inside her head as she waits for her first visitor: two mothers, strawberry farmer, strong sense of community. All points she can use, investigate. 

The sound of the holding cell's door squeaks and she stands sparing a soft, yet considerate smile. "Hi, I'm Dr. Lapointe. I just have a couple questions for you, please have a seat and you're welcome to the water or muffins." She waits for Roxanne to take a seat before sitting down herself picking up both the pen and the notebook before her. This is the beginning. "Before we begin, I just want to explain why you're meeting me. I'm a psychologist and I really want to get to know each and every one of you. To me, you're so much more than just numbers. You're unique individuals." Her fingers clicks the pen softly as though a prelude to the flowing ink that is to follow. "Since there really is no great place to start considering the circumstances, Roxanne how would you describe life before the Reaping? Before coming here? You can use as little or as much detail as you'd like. This is your time, I'm just here to listen."

I was summoned to some small holding cell. A psychological evaluation, they call it, whatever that does. I have heard of them before, but I never needed one myself, so I never really gave much research into it. Too much farm work needed to be done to research about those types of things. Entering the small, clean room, I was greeted by a woman with a soft smile standing to meet me. It felt robotic. Scripted. As if she had a motive for this other than just "get to know us" as she later claims. The doctor speaks up as I close the door.

""Hi, I'm Dr. Lapointe. I just have a couple questions for you, please have a seat and you're welcome to the water or muffins."" I glance at the muffins and I immediately doubt the integrity and sincerity of the muffins. Is this to test out intelligence? If we trust people easily? They wouldn't kill someone before the Games even started though, right?

I'd hope not.

I took a water, feeling dry, and took a seat waiting for her to continue. "Before we begin, I just want to explain why you're meeting me. I'm a psychologist and I really want to get to know each and every one of you. To me, you're so much more than just numbers. You're unique individuals." Bullshit. Pen click. "Since there really is no great place to start considering the circumstances, Roxanne how would you describe life before the Reaping? Before coming here? You can use as little or as much detail as you'd like. This is your time, I'm just here to listen." This is all starting to get repetitive. Shouldn't they have access to this type of information? Whatever. I'm here, so I guess I have to say it.

"Well, I don't know how deep to describe it. Life was simple, easy. We started off well financially following the war because of our ability to keep afloat economically with the produce from my family's strawberry farm. We used to donate leftover produce to the homeless during all of it, and our name was well known by then. So we were comfortable."

A beat, thinking about more to say.

"I was planning on taking over the farm when, or if I come home. If I'll even be able to if I do come home." I give a shrug, admittedly unsure about what the duties of a victor actually are. We haven't had one, so I can't say it's a familiarity. "People tend to doubt me at home now that our business took off following the war. They think that my kindness has alternative motives, which kind of sucks."

Excellent.

Roxanne exhibits a strong sense of communicative integrity. She also perpetuates a fluid line of conscious truth, her statements matching much of what her records indicate. Note to self: Section 11f A. 3 for actual compatibility comparison remarks. Additionally, she conveys a sense of focus around moral integrity primarily through exterior observation of her peers' opinions. Will probe further to see if compatible with normal age parameters. 

Imogen maintains a constant stream of vision between the page, her pen, and the young girl speaking before her. She wants to ensure that Roxanne knows she has her undivided attention. Only once Imogen is certain that Roxanne has finished her remarks, does she sit back more casually and returns with her own. "So would you say the opinions of others, especially back in Eleven, is something that is very important to you? If so, why do you think that is? Is there a reason you think it's important to be seen as kind specifically?"

The doctor, or whatever I should call her, maintains a consistent eye contact between me and the page. It seems genuine when she's listening, like she actually cares. If that's possible. She sits back moments after I finish my remarks, and she begins her next part. "So would you say the opinions of others, especially back in Eleven, is something that is very important to you? If so, why do you think that is? Is there a reason you think it's important to be seen as kind specifically?" Hm. Upon reflection, it might be something that's important to me. But I also don't know why it should be. There was silence for a moment as I thought about how to reply, taking a sip of water to try and fill the void of emptiness the room had.

"I don't really think so." I pursed my lips at the statement. "Well, kind of. I think since everyone assumes my family has intentions for financial gain nowadays I just want people to see me as someone who wants to be kind. I don't want people to think I have malicious intent for just trying to brighten their day. Part of it might be so I can take over the farm too; that way I don't have to worry about it going under if people don't like me." The farm is important to me. Why wouldn't it? It's the only home I've known for as long as I could remember.
