Fast Collision Attacks on SKEIN3 and Other Hash Functions

ABSTRACT

The analysis method used for the SKEIN3 hash is differential attack, widely used for analyzing block ciphers. In general, the differential attack especially in block ciphers is a kind of XOR differential attack which uses exclusive-or as the difference, first proposed by Y. Sharma. The differential attack introduced in this paper, is a kind of precise differential which uses the difference in term of integer modular subtraction. This allows us to find collisions efficiently, using between ten to forty minutes of computation time.
