Official 91st Muttation List
[Delivery] Word (Throughout) - The docile and loyal Delivery Words (commonly called 'Words') are extremely adaptable and capable of crossing lands and bodies of water to deliver mail for the cost of a couple sunflower seeds. Delivery Words usually prefer to fly away from combat. Their meat is highly delicious and packed with essential vitamins. It is not hard to spot a Delivery Word, with their black feathers, gray-specked eyes, and tendency to honk loudly; however, Words can be hard to capture with its ability to withstand high acidity. Examples of different forms: 1 2 3 and similar dungeons and dragons vibes
Classified as Small Game. (70th) Knife Rolls.
Vraven (Throughout, except Cave Entrance) - Originally bred to clear battlefields of the fallen, Vraven’s are a chilling mix of vulture and crow that have an appetite for rotting flesh. Capable of silently swooping down despite their impressive seven foot wingspan, Vraven's are dangerous mutts, who circle relentlessly while waiting for the right moment to strike. hough they haven’t been used since the dark days to dispose of corpses that the Capitol did not want to spend the resources to identify and bury, the gamemakers have decided that such a mutt perfectly fit the tone of the sixty-seventh arena. However, unlike their predecessors, these Vraven have been bred not just to go after dead flesh, but living flesh as well.
Not Edible. (67th) Knife Rolls.
Sheepish (Forgotten Meadow, Fantastical Forest) – A dastardly blend of fox and sheep DNA, the Sheepish are as sly, quiet, and elusive as a fox. They have a very thick, fluffy orange coat, with the tail, snout and ears of a fox protruding from the woolly mass. Their teeth are incredibly sharp, although the cunning animals conceal them quite well, looking innocent and cuddly. The Sheepish were attempted to be bred as a food source; however the far too little meat that they produced was far too gamey for the Capitol people. The Sheepish continued to be bred for their bright orange wool, which is prized by Capitol fashion designers.
Classified as Small Game. (71st) Knife Rolls.
Cave Spiders (Cave Entrance) - Originally designed to seek out rebels hiding in caves or underground holes, Cave Spiders are about the size of a small cat and difficult to spot in the dark. It’s probably for the best - their size accentuates every gruesome detail of their appearance, from their many glittering eyes to bodies that look as if they’ve been carved from stone. Because they were mostly used for observation during the war, Cave Spiders aren’t particularly good at defending themselves, though once provoked they have the ability to do a decent amount of damage.
Not edible. (73rd) Knife Rolls
Pocket Dragons (Cornucopia, Dragon Tooth Mountains, Cave Entrance) - Aptly named because of their small size, Pocket Dragons were created originally to be cheap merchandise for the Capitolites who wanted a plastic model of Flemeth the Blood Dragon. At first, Capitol merchants couldn’t keep these things on the shelves – after all, they were small, cheap, and easily directed by remote control – but even the best businessmen couldn’t have predicted how quickly the Pocket Dragon™ would rise in popularity. As time went on, the people of the Capitol wanted bigger and better upgrades, so newer models of the Pocket Dragon were continually created, until a savvy Capitol entrepreneur came forward with the latest version: a small, robotic dragon made of lightweight metal, with sleek wings, sharp claws, glowing red eyes, and an improved ability to spit fire. Plus, a remote control wasn’t needed; they could operate on their own. Sadly, the dragons also tended to have dangerous malfunctions, and had to be recalled immediately. Now, travelling in large packs, the Pocket Dragons move through the air and emit a constant high-pitched beeping sound, and will begin to smoke as the flames rush through their searing metal jaws.
Not edible. (65th) Knife Rolls.
Pixie Wasps (Throughout) - Pixie wasps, roughly the size of a human hand, are experts at camouflage. Disguising themselves as large blue flowers, it's horrifyingly easy to walk into what one might think is a stunning field only to find out that you've made a terrible, and potentially fatal, mistake. Besides their alarming size, pixie wasps have reinforced bird beaks that can deliver a vicious bite. For the 79th Hunger Games, Pixie Wasps have been modified to be gold instead of blue.
Not edible. (79th) Knife Rolls.
Pygmy Cattle (Forgotten Meadow, Fantastical Forest, Winding River) - One crazy Capitol scientist was working on a project attempting to develop cows that produced lactose-free milk, frustrated by his own lactose intolerance. On the front of it, his work seemed like a complete failure: the resulting cows produced no milk whatsoever, and, to top it off, were roughly the size of a house cat. However, the meat they produced was not only delicious, but the Pygmy Cattle were easier to keep in smaller spaces and produced much less in terms of byproducts. Unlike their giant counterparts, the miniature cows, however, are very skittish and actually burrow, much like rabbits.
Classified as Small Game. (65th) Knife Rolls.
Kodama (Throughout) - If one did not know better, they would think the Kodoma a ghost. The creature moves in absolute silence, with a body that looks somewhat similar to a human's in that it stands upright and have two arms and two legs. The similarities stop there, though, for this particular mutt has a wide, round abdomen, no fingers or toes, and an oval head with two dark eyes and an equally dark mouth, so that the three features can barely be distinguished from each other. The rest of its body is opalescent, smooth, and free of even the slightest feature, and it's tiny, maybe a foot and a half tall at most. The Kodama are generally a puzzling creature. Unlike most mutts, they were created to cheer up people in the Capitol who were old, sick, or depressed, meant to be a kind of therapy. Their behavior didn't exactly go as planned, though - the creatures would often just stand there, making an occasional call that sounded high pitched and distant. They amused patients, however, and were therefore kept. In the Arena, they have been known to be actually helpful. They travel in packs and often do little more than watch tributes with their wide eyes and bring them food. Still, their presence has been known to be greatly calming to many, even the unlucky teenagers slated for almost certain death.
Not edible. (71st)
Sphinx (Cave Entrance, Cornucopia, Dragon Tooth Mountains, Fantastical Forest) - Very much like its mythological counterpart, the Sphinx is a genetic fusion of lion, eagle, and ox DNA. This majestic creature was developed by the Capitol during the Dark Days for use as a tool in combat, a living weapon, so to speak. The majority of its genetic mix is that of a lion, giving it razor-sharp claws, vicious teeth, and graceful feline reflexes, making it a formidable predator with those traits alone. With the added trait of enough eagle DNA to give it huge, feathered wings and incredible eyesight, the Sphinx gains the advantage of flight at incredibly high speeds (up to 65 mph), allowing it to chase after its prey by air and track it with ease. Capitol scientists gave sphinxes extremely aggressive temperaments derived from the genetic code of male oxen, making them extremely territorial and easily provoked so that they would be absolutely ruthless in attacking the rebel soldiers they were created to destroy. As they grew practically impossible to control, however, the Sphinx ceased to be used for combat, and now prowls the arenas of the Hunger Games.
Not edible. (60th) Knife Rolls.
Blisserwhelp (Throughout) - A larger sized commercial mutt, these tamed Flemeth-cousins were created through Petelia Quartz's need for a trolley alternative in her mutt-zoo. Originally doted to be a heavenly transport alternative, these humble, frilly wyverns were docile in personality and only utilized offensively in the Quartz's mutt fighting rings. No worries, it's completely humane! Sorta. These mutts are genuinely lazy in their approach, and have only been known to harm capitolites when in search of food. This said, when provoked as most mutts in the arena are, who knows what they're capable of. Surely not Ms. Quartz, but alas, they do be kinda cute though!
Classified as Large Game. (85th) Flail Rolls.
Gorgon (Dragon Tooth Mountains, Winding River, Cave Entrance) - Natives to the dark, underground sewers throughout the time of the Dark Days, The Capitol conducted test runs and experiments to create a new breed that would hinder one’s true fears, putting them to the test. Skulking around, the Gorgon slithers at excessive speeds towards its prey, allowing no chance for it to flee from the Gorgons grip. Though blind in the silver, glossy eyes the Gorgon is the end result of an anaconda, mixed with the DNA of a cobra. Thus, giving this breed a kings hood attached to their heads in which radiating heat and movement are sensed at even the smallest rates. Made to change and adapt to whichever climate they may be placed in, as well as darker and brighter areas, these scaly reptilian creatures know how to blend well with their surroundings. Able to temporarily calcify its prey with a look, they strike after the unfortunate victim has been turned to stone.
Not edible. (62nd) Spiked Blunt Rolls.
Cornucopia 309 (Forgotten Meadow) - Having gotten tired of tributes taking shelter in the Cornucopia in past Games and relying on the area’s relative safety, the Gamemakers decided that they should add a little twist to the generally useless object. Now, rather than operating as a safe haven, the Cornucopia has burrowed most of its metal body beneath the surface of the earth and out of sight. When it pulls itself out of the ground, tributes will be able to see two long metal arms and the countless tiny legs that carry it from beneath, all rusted and covered in dirt. When the Cornucopia attacks, it strikes forward with arms that are sharpened to deadly edges, and if the Gamemakers are feeling particularly whimsical, it can even spew projectile weapons from its gaping mouth. As a mutt, the Cornucopia is enormous and seemingly indestructible, and any tributes that cross its path will be forced to weaken its rough metal exterior in order to see another day.
Redacted Health. Not edible. (70th) All Rolls.
Yeti (Dragon Tooth Mountains, Cave Entrance, Fantastical Forest) - When the wind picks up, and comes howling through the land it’s hardly recognisable. A mighty beast that stands at over five meters tall it is a towering monstrosity that is not to be reckoned with. A long, thick fur covers it from head to toe, a set of small beady eyes are hardly visible, but most do not tend to look long searching for its eyes, they are too quickly distracted by the two large protruding canines that hang from it’s mouth. Ice grips its chin, the drool that so often leaks past its lips frozen on its face. If you have the courage to not run you will soon find yourself facing its long sharp claws, attached to arms with the strength to uproot trees from the very ground. Do not be fooled by its size, do not be fooled by it at all, it might be the last thing you do.
Classified as Large Game. (74th) Knife Rolls.
Harpies (Winding River) – The Capitol really outdid itself with this muttation. With the naked upper torso of a gorilla affixed to the legs and wings of a bird, this beast can be quite elegant. The Harpies were originally developed to be companions for older Capitol men. It took a few deaths before the muttation engineers realized that the Harpies were better off contained to an arena. There is a certain femininity to a Harpy’s movements, a sly batting of her eyelashes just before she attacks, a proud fluttering of her wings before she swoops in on her prey. But don't be fooled; this is one twitchy, screechy critter who loves to use her knife-like talons to scratch up her prey before she eats his innards.
+5 HP against male tributes. Not edible. Not poisonous. (62nd) Knife Rolls.
Glass-winged Amphithere (Cornucopia, Dragon Tooth Mountains, Cave Entrance) - What the Glass-winged Amiphithere lacks in limbs it makes up for in grace and beauty. Legless, it spends its entire short life dependent on its wings, resting only when it absolutely must, since that is when it is most vulnerable. So named for the glass-liked appearance of its sparkling, robust wings, this muttation’s skeleton had been designed to be translucent. Over generations a genetic mutation transferred the translucence to the wings. Once popular as a Capitol pet, the Amphithere has fallen out of favor, partially due to its large size (head to tail, wing to wing, it’s about the same length as an adult human) for a pet and partially because of its desire to be part of a thunder of dragons. Perhaps it was the long ago genetic tinkering or perhaps the Amphithere’s memory is long, but in either case, it’s not quite forgotten how doting humans can be. Given the chance, it would like nothing more than to encase a tribute in a glass cocoon.
Always part of a pack of other muttations (not exclusively Amphitheres). Does not attack. If a tribute elects to try to trap an Amphithere [standard trapping rolls apply] the tribute cannot attack in the same turn. If an Amphithere is successfully captured, it can immediately be used to block one attack of the tribute’s choosing, excluding instas. This must be declared within 24 hours of receiving the attack. (Baby Wessex d9b [earthling]; 91st)
Kobolds (Dragon Tooth Mountains, Fantastical Forest, Cave Entrance) - Out of all the experiments in biological intelligence, Kobolds were by far the most interesting of results. Made using the DNA of salamanders and chimpanzees, these muttations stand at around 3 feet tall on two legs. Entirely looking like giant lizards walking on two feet, these creatures are highly intelligent. Able to pick up things in their environment and even create tools from their surroundings, these muttations have been highly studied for years. Originally, created for the purpose of recreating humanlike intelligence for the purposes of studying human psychology, these muttations were seen in every lab around Panem. Until they started to show strange and bizarre behaviors. With a newfound addiction to shiny objects and a form of worship to larger creatures like themselves, Kobolds had grown pretty obsessive and resourceful in achieving their goals. Many of them have been able to set up ambushes and even pull off breakouts from labs. Now, given the chance to learn and explore, who knows what else these muttations can do!

2. Kobold Talon (Knife)
3. Trident (Spear)
4. Mace (Spiked Blunt)
Fungal Folk (Throughout) - For all intents and purposes, the creation of the Fungal Folk was entirely a success. Posing the question of how to protect capitol gardens and land from wandering muttations, one scientist decided living mushrooms would make the perfect guardians. Giving these mushrooms the ability of limbs has given a new purpose to these guardians. Ranging from two feet tall to a possible twelve feet tall, these muttations give a magical and imposing presence. Their sturdy form and ability to produce many Fungal Folk with the spores they create, their popularity exploded across Panem. Many of these muttations were found in the front yards of capitolites and businesses all around the capitol. After their booming popularity, these mushroom muttations were taken to be repurposed for the games. Who doesn't love a good shroom?
Edible. (Tom; 91st) Blunt Rolls.
The Innkeeper (Cornucopia) - Not every muttation is created the same. Once meant to be just a simple slime creature made of a living gelatinous mix of chemicals to eat away at whatever it can, this slime had grown attached to its creators. Copying the shape and form of the kids who would come to the muttation zoos, this slime had gotten the hang of walking and moving just like the creators who’ve made them. Speech had taken much longer. Years spent in captivity had given them a chance to perfect it. Soon enough, this slime creature had become intelligent and capable enough to catch the attention of the right people. Given a whole new identity and name, the Innkeeper was born.
Redacted health. Not edible. (Tom; 91st) Glaive Rolls.
Maelstrom, Dragon of Darkness (Throughout) - When there’s one dragon, there’s always another. There’s been rumors of a single impossible to train muttation that’s been sweeping through the Capitol. Legends of how Flemeth, the prized muttation of the Capitol, had made a mate ages ago. What people don’t know is she’s real. Locked away from prying eyes, she’s been resting. Sealed away out of fear of what an uncontrollable beast she could be. Originally, she had been made to be similar to Flemeth in every way. A dragon of the same breed, except they had made her sleeker, quicker, and much more of a predator than before. Purple smooth scales leading down to a sleek spike studded tail. Claws sharper than that of her mates, she stood out to muttation scientists as a pure predator. Eyes a deep yellow, always watching everything around her. Just like most dragons, her breath is hot, but there’s a certain gleam of purple to it. Beware. No one knows what it’ll do to you. After being locked away for so long, all it takes is a handful of gamemakers and the promise of a thrilling games. Just be careful, a rampaging dragon should just be the start of your worries.
Redacted health. Not Edible. (Tom; 91st) Mystery Rolls.Mutt Contest Winners
Macrobat (Cave Entrance, Fantastical Forest) - You've already heard of the stomach churning, anxiety-inducing macromantula- classic giant poisonous spiders of hunger games past- but the fact of the matter is that they have began to fall from arena favor in recent years for newer, more terrifying creatures. As such, a makeover was due. The creatures were given the wings and echolocation of vampire bats, recementing their place as apex predators in any habitat they might find themselves in. The smallest of the creatures is man-sized, and it spins is web over entire sections of forest, interconnected strands wrapping from tree to tree and rendering hundreds of tinier little victims helpless until the macrobat makes its way to it for dinner. If ever there is a slow day, fear not. A mere minute or two in the sky and it has located its next meal with ease.
Edible. (umber vivuus 12b 🥀 [dars]; 91st) Knife Rolls.
Displacer (Throughout) - War and invention has always gone hand in hand, though if they should or not is a question held aloft by this beast. Hungry, sharp-teethed, and with eyes glowing a fiery green, these creatures were made during a war. A miraculous cross between a hound and a panther, their paws glide soundlessly across any surface when they hunt, the only sound they produce being a light purr that is almost always heard too late. But its terror does not cease there. What the displacer hound does, is that it can completely turn itself invisible. They bend the light through specialized skin cells, making themselves inscrutable, becoming mere mirages in the air, all before they apparate with their maws open in front of your face. Thus, if you were to ever stumble upon one, here is a friendly tip: don’t blink.
Edible. (napoleon, d2m ₊⊹ 🐁 ɢʀɪғғɪɴ.; 91st) Knife Rolls.
Kuo-Toa (Cave Entrance, Winding River) - The Capitol, for many years, has loved to mutate things, so they figured, why not start with a simple organism like a fish? Many versions of this creature were created by the Capitol over the years, and as time went on, they were created to be more and more capable of living both in and out of the water (although the water is their preferred domain). The Kuo-Toa are fish-like, yet amphibious. Their faces are like those of frightening, deep-sea fish, and their bodies are structured like that of a two-legged creature. They also have decently functioning arms. While somewhat less intelligent than a human, they are often seen carrying crude weapons, fashioned from things such as bones of other sea creatures that they've chosen as their prey. They speak in a strangle jumble of squeaky sounds and grunts that humans can't understand.
Edible (Tastes Fishy). (kap; 91st) Spear Rolls.
