Inter-District Event: Panem's Annual Science Fair

This year District Six is proud to host Panem's Annual Science Fair! The High Council welcomes amateurs and professionals from Districts Three, Five and Six to demonstrate their abilities within the science field. From medicine to chemical engineering, all is welcome at the Science Fair Event Hall during the week.

Research and innovation is paramount to keep Panem moving and overcoming future obstacles. A new pandemic or a fiery rebellion could well be halted in its tracks by combining the skills of the three highly valuable science Districts. The High Council encourages networking with fellow scientists (within reason) to help build the next big phenomenon during the week.

Prizes are on offer for participants in each event, the golden prizes being a state of the art microscope and telescope.

Due to a limited resource of accommodation within District Six, bunks have been set up in unused hospital buildings for visitors to reside in. If a visitor would prefer a little more luxury, many families have volunteered to accommodate visitors in their own homes. It is advised that the usual hygiene measures such as hand washing and daily baths are followed regardless of the accommodation situation so temporary showers and washing units have been installed throughout the event halls.

Participants in the event must be 12 years and over. Anyone aged 18 and below must be accompanied by an adult.

Rules/How It Works!

Hey everyone! Finally 3,5,6 get a fun positive event, this time with controlled explosions!

The event is held over one week IC but will be running until the middle of September. The first events will be posted on Friday 19th August and each individual event will run for two weeks. There will be a split of points based events and 'just for fun.' These just for fun events will be demonstration stalls IC that your characters can interact with.

How do you collect points?:
IC post in an event: 1 point
IC post outside of an event but related to Science Fair: 1 point

First place in an event: 3 bonus points (1 pp)
Second place in an event: 2 bonus points (1 pp)
Third place in an event: 1 bonus point (1 pp)

Please note: participation in events will require IC posting, with a minimum of 100 words per post. Failure to do so will result in a DQ in the event and no points earned. (Credit to the County Fair for the points system)

Points Based Events
Friday 19th August - Sunday 4th September 11:59pm PST

• Robot Competition - Points based on appearance and functionality.
• The Autopsy Race - How quickly can you remove and identify the heart, lungs, liver and brain of a frog? All frogs involved passed away from natural causes.
• The Potato Gun - Build and shoot a potato gun.
• Custom Displays - Display your latest experiments and research studies.

Just For Fun Events
Friday 19th/Sunday 21st August - 19th of September

• Explosives Demonstration
• Play with liquid nitrogen!
• Astronomy Demonstration - name your very own star!

Sign Ups!

Any character from Districts 3,5 & 6 can enter any event, so long as they are 12 years old and over. You can sign up to the events after the date they have begun but must post in the event by the closing date. Up to 1-2 secret events will be added for you to sign up to so watch this space. 1 character can enter multiple events. There will be no maximum number of participants in each event but there must be at least 2 participants for points to be awarded.
