Custom Experiment Displays

Now is the perfect time for competitors to present on their very best old and new experiments. The conference hall is filled with lines and lines of tables, all with their very own unique displays on them. From the faithful homemade volcano to a new Hunger Games perk. Will the judges find the next scientific breakthrough today?

The Rules
- Competitors are given a space to display any research/experiment that they have conducted.
- Displays must contain a brief purpose, methods, results and conclusions on the experiment and they must give a brief oral presentation.
- Competitors will be scored on five variables: Hypothesis, the display board, oral presentation to the judges, conclusions drawn and the uniqueness of the experiment.
- Posts in this thread must be a minimum of 100 words long.
- 2 bonus points for any illustrations of your experiment/research.
- You have until 23:59 PST 2nd September to participate.

Kryptonite Zei

Experimenting is fun, but sometimes Krypt struggles at knowing what is good and what is bad, but this is his chance to at least gather some sort of idea. Hours have gone into this along with sweat and tears. Making sure it's up to standards is important - what is good though? That is up to the judges, and he hopes to impress. It's always a bit terrifying, and this is the first time he's ever wanted to present something he's created. Setting up the station took longer than he anticipated, but he made it work. Looking at the display, a large grin spreads across his face. It doesn't matter what the judges think because at the end of the day he's proud of his work, and that's what matters the most.

NOAH BLOW

He'd barely slept. By the time dawn graced the District, Noah was already on his second cup of coffee, with cream and many sugars. He danced around his apartment. Today was the day! Nevermind that he'd done somewhat mediocre at the anatomy contest. This, this he'd had time to prepare for.

As soon as the conference hall opened to competitors, Noah practically skipped his way inside. He setup his boards, filled with diagrams and some tight scribbles. And then he setup his coffee maker, ferrying cups of water for it from the nearest fountain. He passed out tiny paper cups of black coffee. He smiled. "Free drugs," he offered to passersby.

Splashed across his boards, "DE CRIMINALIZE ALL DRUGS!" Research and statistics had been printed and glued. None of it was his own conducted research of course. Well, except the actual drugs part. He had plenty of first hand knowledge about that.

"Some caffeine to get you high?" He pandered to the wandering masses.

I've always been the creative type. Hearing stories from Joule about what Bolts had done back when he was alive and thriving, I wanted to be like him. I wanted to be smart, inventive and innovative. I wanted to be able to create anything I put my mind to, and I'd say I'm pretty close to being like that now. I can make just about any idea that pops into my head turn into reality if it's something that can be built. I'll make it with my own two hands.

So, when I had an idea to build a little robot for the science fair, I got to work. I named him Sparky, in honor of my family: the Spark family. It seemed fitting. I made his little head out of a hollowed out golf ball and wired some LED lights into him to give him glowing eyes. He's got a small speaker below his eyes that lets me give him a voice by speaking into a connected radio, and he moves around on a little wheel when I control him with the joystick. I'm pretty proud of how he came out.

When I explain him to the judges, I hope that they're not just pretending to be enthralled with what I've made. It'd be quite disappointing if all this hard work went to waste. Then again, I suppose it wouldn't have really been a waste. I had fun making him, after all. I just hope that I do well, regardless. It's always nice to have your work recognized as something good and important.

Ink litters your station; burning like the fires you've marked onto the skins of friends. Eternity burning over and over through the red. You believed the marks you've given are more than just an artistic interpretation of life. Bleeding skin leaving ink with manifestation of lessons learned by the populace. Your booth had become rather popular only for the sake of strangers wanting tattoos, but you've been a master at finding the lessons of those who've learned their mistakes. There's a study plastered across the booth. The scientific marking of the human body. Your mother had made it scientific for you. Burnt the lesson into the cardboard to show how the human psychology is effected by the reading of individuals with just a few words and a glance.

Many bluebells having been inked onto shins, stomachs, arms, and even necks. Humility of first love blossoming in a science fair of all places. You always smile at them. Their humility will come with time. The scientific method was good for research, but you were relying on your art, your skill, and your own lessons to have as a perfect example of the psychological effect. Maturity grows from the blossoms of your own ink. You've prospered in a way only the imperfect have. A beautiful flowing of flowers and artistic symbols litter your skin. Water droplets from a friend who'd taught him of the fluidity of life. The judges approach with a sternness you've seen in the weary before. All you can do is smile.

You are a teacher of their own stories.

They will learn.
