The first thing he reaches for is his brother. An entire district away, what feels like an entire reality away. He's scared. In a domino effect, everything falls to pieces around him, around everyone. Quick as lightning across the sky, what was supposed to be a trip to broaden his horizons has turned into nightmare fodder.

A day and some pocket change after the initial exposure, he can feel flames moving beneath his skin, burning like hot coals under his cheeks. His nails scratch into the bed covers, breaths coming quickly and anxiously; hatefully. "I want to go home. I want to be with my family." He speaks tiredly, hopefully, all the while being ignored by the nurses checking his vitals. Treating him like a test sample behind glass.

He wants to break things / break them.

In the haze of his madness, he thinks of how much he frightens himself. He'd be ashamed if Beau ever found out this. But his brain has been severed from rationality, from all the pretty little distractions he so often focuses his attention on. His brother told him once, things are only as good as you allow them to be. That voice repeats on and on in his head like a record player scratching the vinyl.

When he throws his food tray clear across the room and it lands hard against the wall, he booms at the top of his lungs, "get the fuck out of my room!" Limbs pulling against their restraints like a comet scorching through the atmosphere. He burns just that quickly.

And he wonders what they'll find in the stardust that's left of him.
