93rd Weather Mechanics

The sun is out when the tributes first descend into the arena, shining warm rays on them as the bloodbath rains down blood around them. Standing in the gardens, chests heaving, they watch with vague horror as storm clouds begin to roll over the mountaintop. The cliff faces get obscured by swirling clouds of indigo and lilac, bruises in the sky hiding away the peak. Slowly, it drifts further down, obscuring more and more of the mountain as it goes. The storm clouds swirl through the blossom trees that tributes see a ways away up the sloping rice terraces to the south, pulling loose petal after petal, carrying them dancing on the wind down into the center of the arena. To the east, to the west, the storm descends and walls the tributes in. A massive purple wound in the sky, tributes watch as its contents pour over the ground, only to suddenly stop, almost as if it is bashing against some invisible barrier. Tributes make their way to the Koi Ponds, to the Stream, to the gate at the edge of the Wood — they lift their fingers to feel a stinging zap as the swirling storm crackles into their palm and up their arm. Turn back, it seems to whisper to them.

93RD HUNGER GAMES WEATHER MECHANICS

Welcome, tributes, to the 93rd Hunger Games! We appreciate you all running such a smooth bloodbath with us and hope you're all looking forward to these games truly beginning. To kick things off, we want to introduce you to the weather tributes will be enduring in the 93rd.

Upon entrance to the arena, tributes could see almost to every corner. Visibility was excellence. From the Zen Garden, there was at least a peek at everything else. Once the bloodshed stopped, a storm rolled in, obscuring most of the arena from tributes view. 

While it is only lightly raining and windy in most part, the sun does creep through for fleeting moments in certain areas while it properly settles into the higher regions of the arena. The barrier seems to enclose tributes in, allowing them to traverse the Zen Garden, the Koi Ponds, the Rice Paddy Fields, and the Shallow Stream. For ease of imagery, the storm swirls against boundaries much like this.

Additionally, as the storm leaves the crackling smell of burning ozone in its wake, tributes should take care and be cautious. That rain stings just a bit, and tributes never know what in this place might hurt them. Better get some weather gear. 

To be clear: tributes will be unable to access any of the mountainous areas or the Cherry Blossom Forest for Day Two. Locations should be chosen from the remaining open areas.
