A scared little boy breathes life into a character and a story. A life once in line with the fears that terrorized the little boy's mind. Now, there's distance. The character outpaces the boy. How proud, how jealous the little boy is until he remembers. Jealousy is the root, ineptitude is the trunk, and the leaves are made up of his sadness. Notice how there's no fruit. When these pieces of life define you, the tree grants you nothing.
