Laughter filled the room as Hades quirked an eyebrow into the crowd, his own glass of red wine swirling with a flourish. "On a serious note, I do want to take a moment to thank you all for your support. It has been a busy five years, I'll say that. Instilling policies, countless Capitol initiatives. The people of District One have remained content in their servitude to the Capitol under my control. Not to mention my continued work as a Maker of Games and as a Maker of Mutts." The applause swelled at this, Hades keeping his gaze on Astrid in the audience to fill the silence. She looked absolutely ravishing.
"But! There is still work to be done. With the close of the 95th Hunger Games, a new cycle approaches. The dreaded Rose Plague still runs rampant in the Districts. Uprisings threaten to upend the natural order. It is with all the humility I can muster that I ask for your continued support. You need people you can trust to make the right decisions when the time calls for it. You need Hades Lochlan. And I, ever your servant, vow to keep the Capitol in its rightful position at the top of the proud mountain of this country. I am thrilled as ever for the opportunity to show my own undying support for this, the greatest nation in the world!"
He doesn't mind waiting for the silence.
"One more thing, one last thing and then we can get back to the celebrations. I suppose now is as good a time as any to announce, with great honor, that I will be the head gamemaker of the upcoming 96th Hunger Games! I told you all I have been busy these last five years, and I meant it. Five years of planning, of editing, of perfecting. I am very excited to speak more on this soon. I hope you're excited to listen, Panem. Goodnight!"
