96th Mountable Creatures
Along with the familiars, an optional mountable creature will be available throughout the arena for tributes to catch. Tributes must use a lasso (trapping roll), found in non-combat rolls, in a written post to catch one of the creatures. Tributes can choose which creature they catch but they can only catch one the entire time they are in the arena. Tributes can catch and eat a mountable creature if they wish to but they cannot catch another after they kill the mount.
Tributes who have caught a mountable creature may move one additional area per games day. Only one tribute can ride one mountable creature.
Tributes must include their mount in their tribute maintenance.
If a tribute dies, their mountable creature will flee to the wilds.
The creatures available in the arena are:
PRINCE OF THE FOREST
They are said to be protectors of the wood: actual royalty among the trees. They stand as tall as any horse, proud-chested and regal in each step of their prance. Each of them has antlers with a span longer than you can stretch your arms to: horns paying as evidence of their ancient blood and success up to this point. Incredibly gentle creatures, once tamed they regard you in a way that makes you wish you could read their thoughts. You’re certain they’re trying to impart something to you, some kind of wisdom.
DIRE POLAR BEAR
One would think just from looking at these gigantic beasts that they’d be the worst thing you could possibly run into in an arena like this. Their heads alone are half your size and they move surprisingly quick. But then you’ll notice the mounting gear, and the calmness that accompanies these gentle giants at all times. They never seem to be in a rush, and are easy to keep content so long as they are supplied with lots of fish.
BLIZZARD FOWL
In every aspect but one, these owls seem to be ordinary birds. Snowy owls, to be specific, brilliant white plumes speckled with dark spots. But a very notable change is their size: they are as tall as men. Taller, even. With wingspans to match. They’re also fitted with saddles and if you can manage to catch one, don’t seem to mind giving you a ride to wherever it is you’re needing to go.
