History has a way of keeping people together or driving them so far apart that they cannot even look in the same direction of the one that scared them. Reldexx had been a part of my life since the first day I stepped into the bloodthirsty halls of the training center. I had an assuring feeling that she was not going to go anywhere anytime soon. A constant throughout the chaos, or perhaps the two of us were the eye of a hurricane.

Ready to destroy anything that comes in our path. Maybe even destroy each other, but hey everything fair in love and war. The kind of love I could have given a sister or a brother if I were ever to have one. Guess this was a close as I was ever going to get, not that mom could have ever been able to handle two of us. She did her best with me but taught me to raise myself, to be my own person. Hoping that I would be just like her, independent, never needing anyone to hold my hair back when I was choking up my guts.

Did not change the fact that I craved validation.

Something no one in my family ever was going to give me. Definitely not my mother, and not fat chance any of my uncles or cousins would come running to my side. They only wanted me if they could control me, hell would freeze over before I let a man tell me how to live my life. Or probably anyone for that matter. Fuck all of their opinions and poison covered suggestions.

I am no damsel in destress. Neither was she.

Still, I waited for someone, anyone to hear me. She would listen.

Unsure why of all the people in my life, for all of our errors she was not one of them. Maybe I was just another one of her bad mistakes she couldn’t kick. For each time she left, I was never sure if she would come back. Her life after all, she had her demons the same way I had mine and the time had come that we could no longer fight them together.

If she needed refuge, I would do my best. My best never being enough for anyone else but myself. The knock on the door was too familiar, one I knew she would use to call out. Announce her presence before marching into my home. I smiled as always, of course I was glad to see her. My partner in crime since day one.

If hell was a place on earth, we sat on a throne of skeletons. Each with our own kingdom to rule, side by side burning it all to the ground.

I greet her with an embrace.
