My mom married a blonde.

No sorry, mom fucked a blonde! That is all she can tell me about my dad. So, I am the result of one, barely remembered drunken night. She assures me that I am not a mistake, but it is so clear that I came at the wrong time. My younger siblings are what she planned for, the ones she had with the brunette that put a ring on her finger.

I do stop in the street sometimes, whenever I see a blonde man. Does he have the same nose as I do? The same colour eyes as me? Oh yeah, my eyes!

My eye got fucked up in the training center, it is still in my head though. One punch by a guy bigger than me and now it is a cloudy orb that doesn’t work. Mom won’t pay to get it removed; the doctors say it won’t get infected but come on! I could wear a crazy red glass eye or something. But no, got to be the kid in District Four with an eye patch and yeah, the pirate nicknames are RIFE!

Especially with my part time job on the boats. If I get out of teen hood without getting my ass pulled into a Hunger Games, at the sea is where I’ll be for the rest of my life. Not fishing though, fuck fishing it is boring. We rescue all the trawlers that get into trouble, who thought catching slimy scalely smelly animals was so dangerous too? And idiot kids that go out swimming on a rough day, sometimes they’re lucky and it is a rescue but most of the time it is a recovery. What a waste man! Learn how to swim, this is the water District!
