96th Opening Ceremony

Welcome Tributes, Spectators, and all in between!

As the start of the 96th Games approaches, we begin the festivities with the Opening Ceremony! Stylists will dress their tributes in an ensemble representing their respective districts for all of Panem to see. Be creative and draw influences from unimaginable places. Be expressive and proudly represent your district. But most importantly, designers, make it work.


OOC information:

Tributes will team up with their district partner and stylist/mentor (if applicable) to create a memorable first-look for the Capitol and the rest of Panem to see during the Tribute Parade. Entries may consist of mood boards and/or blitz posts. One person from a team can post as a representative of the rest of their team, so long as they state who helped with what, or the tributes can each post individually.

Incentive Reward:

Weeks before the reaping there had been nary a peep from anyone else even remotely related to District Eight. Well, there might have been a letter or a voicemail from the Mayor; she could hardly be expected to respond to such antiquated missives. But as for the Escort or Stylists? Nothing.

Silence may have reduced bigger brain to panic. But not Capricious. She only saw the opportunity presented.

The day of the Opening Ceremonies she arrived prepared. "Oh no," she murmured as her minions anxiously broke the news that no one had shown up to dress the 96th tributes. "Tragic," she purred. All the while she'd lined their respective dressing stalls with the latest in her avant garde bodywear.

From her own personal closet she'd brought along a few fur skins, nothing more than an oversized scarf or cropped jacket. She didn't want Marceline or Garnet to freeze to death on the long presentation ride. But, if they were a little cold, well, a little scandal would do Eight some good.

"Off you go," she chirped and slapped the chariot horse's ass for good measure.

'cops & robbers'

The district Nine tributes are decked out in what can only described as whiteout & criminal. Rhys stuns in a glistening white coat with a beaded headdress featuring pearls from district Four. Meanwhile, Gunner is draped in layers of black and silver chain. There are silver cuffs around his wrists connected to a chain held loosely by Rhys.

Zen's signature style is metamorphosis and he does not disappoint. As the tributes reach the halfway point, red embroidery blooms from the underside of their jackets, hateful words said by either side writing themselves quickly out in layer upon layer, 'traitor' 'pig' 'murderer' 'thief' 'cutthroat' fill every bit of their clothing until the signifying colours of their original outfits are reduced to layers of delicate red lace.

Long strings of red bloom from Gunner's sleeves, trailing behind the pair of them as they walk, detaching themselves and floating down to create a trail of blood behind them. 

The pearls from Rhys' head fall away, white beads bouncing down off the runway. Gunner's chains break revealing a veil dripping with diamond tears beneath, the red lace splits and even their shoes start to tear as wildflowers bloom from their clothes, seeds having been sewn into every piece of their elaborate wear.

The boys are both more flowers than man as they take their final steps and there, at the centre of all of the glory with the flowers blooming outward, lays an embroidered heart bleeding red against their chest.

District Six | Human Petri Dishes

For the 96th Hunger Games, the tributes from District Six have been adorned in glass-like outfits that coat their body entirely, shimmering and glistening in the sunlight as the chariot parade begins. Their skin has been painted to be as reflective as their outfits, providing an ethereal statement to their forms.

The true magic, however, begins once the chariot reaches the mid-mark of the parade. Something sinister yet beautiful begins to grow. Small at first, hardly noticeable, bacteria begins to spread from the center of their chests. Reds, blues, oranges and more begin to flash and dazzle the audience and their interest, quickly consuming the forms of the tributes as their chariot races forward.

By the time the parade comes to a close the tributes from Six are entirely covered in bacterial growths, from head to toe sporting a colorful collection of clusters across what was once glass-like clothing. Whether it's healthy for the tributes underneath remains to be seen, and certainly is not considered as much as the beauty the outfits have created.
