Do you think kicking a man while he's down is enough to satisfy the Capitol?

Grit and cruelty have been showcased in spades, but not nearly enough blood has been spilled. The audience are all at the edge of their seats, their greedy eyes glued to their television screens hoping to see devastation. Remember, tribute, this is the whole point of your fate. You are entertainment, plain and simple, and your frivolous relationships are a single facet to the role you now play. Bitter rivalries, budding friendships, traitors hiding their true colors: witnessing these things will only be interesting for so long.

It is without question that this cast of characters is an impressive one, but a single corpse's worth of splattered brain matter will never be a sufficient payment.

The thing about a storm is that there is always a sense of calmness that arrives before the destruction. As if holding its breath, the arena seems to hum with a rising energy, an overcast sky brewing overhead. Beasts and monstrosities alike hide in their respective dens, shielding themselves from the gentle powder snow that drifts down to the frozen earth below. Things are quiet, perhaps eerily so, but as the dawn progresses, you find no dangers stepping out from the shadows to confront you. No muttations, no ill-minded tributes, only a vast expanse of land still waiting to be charted completely.
