Day 6 Avalanche

The arena has been warning of this for days. It started with the first collapse- a necessary evil to allow the tributes access to the treasure caves below. But the structural damage to the mountains was extreme. And it opened up more than the treasure caves. After the Fold became volatile and expanded its boarders all across the arena, blasting that unsettling heat everywhere and then imploding in on itself the next day, too much damage was done to go back. A planned disaster, but a full-scale disaster nonetheless. It was certainly a tricky thing to do right.

The snow melts at an alarming rate, the entire area re-heating itself in its dense atmosphere. Thunderous cracks and snaps can be heard all across the arena, everything saturated in a gray slush which crunches into water underfoot. The sun hasn't quite began its ascent for the day when it all comes crashing down.

Entire sections of the mountain, swallowed by the sea. Intricate caves delving miles below the surface collapse in on themselves one after the other, filling with melted snow and creating tombs of soon-forgotten knowledge. The mountain literally caves in on itself, unable to hold the melted weight of the snow pouring down it.

There is no section of the arena that cannot feel the crash, but those closest to the area once swallowed by the Fold will notice a lot more than the impact. They'll see the snow fall, a spray of white- a god's hand reaching toward them in the form of a twenty foot wall of snow.

Try as you might, you will not survive the next several minutes. How you choose to spend them and what occurred in the mean time is completely up to you. And just because you're dying now does not mean you're dying alone- allies and other tributes are more than welcome to post alongside you, should you wish for them to.

It will be your responsibility to start the thread in the Rocky Shore.

If you have a specific way you'd like to write Garnet dying due to the avalanche, that is totally fine! If you need some inspiration/want to leave it up to chance, the gamemakers have also provided a fun dice table below! all you need to do is include a 1-30 roll at the bottom of your post!

^{1-5: Your tribute is buried by the snow before they know it’s coming. Death comes quickly, and easily. Pain is minimal. It’s as if they fell asleep.
6-10: The snow plows a pine tree over your tribute, a limb skewering them through the chest as they continue to tumble down.
11-15: Your tribute attempts to outrun the avalanche and is fairly successful until they step into a hole and break their leg, and are forced to watch as the snow descends upon them.
16-20: Your tribute is trapped somewhere beneath the snow in a newly-formed cavern with no way out. Every few seconds, the cavern fills with more snow, and soon it will bury them.
21-25: Your tribute makes it to the bottom of the avalanche and then, in a show of truly bad luck, falls through the thin ice at the bottom and freezes to death in the water below the surface.
26-29: Your tribute was at the very top and heard the very first disturbance of the snow as it started to fall. Rather than trying and failing to run, your tribute accepts what it is and lets the snow overtake them.
30: Your tribute contributes to the avalanche’s occurrence, either by clapping their hands or shouting or somehow setting off some sort of explosion. They are killed in the process.}

For Garnet's death, I'm going to be modifying "your tribute makes it to the bottom of the avalanche and then, in a show of truly bad luck, falls through the thin ice at the bottom and freezes to death in the water below the surface."

After separating from Rhys, Garnet climbs into his gothic carriage. Velvet, his brave stag, outruns the avalance. But the combined weight of the carriage and the wet snow is too much for the warming ice. Garnet, trapped in the carriage, sinks below the surface.
