Anthem - Day 6

Ivan Korsch is a man who enjoys change. He will take credit for what is about to happen in the arena but it wasn’t all him.

Day Five has lived up to its notorious history. Bloody battles across the arena, the environment needed to offer its helping hand though. Lightning strikes and a mercy killing take the crown jewels of District One. The careers are dwindling and Ivan’s heart rate is rising but surprises are always around the corner.

Tributes will have noticed a rise in the temperatures, the sun has been blaring all day. The climate becomes livelier through the night too, every couple of minutes there is a lighting strike somewhere in the arena. Even a rumble of thunder. Some tributes may wake up in the middle of the night in a hot sweat. Not because they’ve woken up from a nightmare, but because the weather protection they’re wearing is becoming redundant.

It is time for the thawing. It is time to light a match and liven up this arena. So much can happen with just a flick of a switch

Today, your alarm is a rumbling ground. You don’t have enough time to ditch the weather protection because an avalanche is coming your way. Tributes must flee through the arena, the only likely safe place is the Melting Ice Sheet.

Melting. What a sight it is now. There is no more ice but a sprawling beach and an expanse of water. So much change in one night?

If you survive the battle on The Beach, you may well be able to find out what other areas have evolved with the thawing. So long as you survived the avalanche to get here, unlike District Eight’s Garnet Beauford.
