Marceline falls, a blade through her stomach and a silent cry on her lips. I watch in satisfaction as the crown of ice that encased her brow begins to crack before it shatters and slips from her skin. Smirking, I catch her eye, watching with grim satisfaction as the light fades and they begin to glaze. I mouth the words good bye, sweetheart, before I reach out for Mouse and climb onto his back as he begin to beat his powerful wings causing sand to whip up around the remaining tributes.

My eyes find Axyl and Mr.Forgettable and I give them a quick wink. "I'll see you two soon," I promise, throwing them a shit eating grin as my thighs tighten their grip on Mouse. "Don't miss me too much," I toss over my shoulder as Mouse leaps into the air sending us soaring into the sky. "Felicity," I murmur to him, knowing that he would not need another word of encouragement before seeking out pretty blond friend. I had good news to share with her. Excitement strums through me and my grin turns into something softer as my eyes spot Misty circling in the sky in the distance.

"Over there!" I shout as Mouse closes the distance between us and I give a battle cry of victory, "one down, Belcher, one to go!" I yell over the sound of the wing in my ears and the steady beat of Mouses wings. As we near Misty I look passed her to her empty back and feel my grin falter and my heart skip a beat. The air around me suddenly felt like it was kissed by ice and my fingers bury themselves deeper into Mouses feathers. I had heard the boom of a canon earlier but hadn't paid all that much attention to it because it couldn't have been her. There was no way that it couldn't of belonged to her. No.

"Misty..." My voice trails off as I notice that her back is not empty and that Viktor clings to her, a wail on his lips as the two of them suddenly dive for the earth and my heart drops into the pit of my stomach. "No. No." Suddenly Mouse is diving after them and my stomach reaches into my throat a moment before we slam into the ground.

Instantly I slip from his back, my eyes narrowing in on the figure that Misty nudges with her beak, a soft whimpering sound filling the space between us. I stop dead in my tracks, my eyes instantly recognising her ice blond hair that seemed to glow sun. "No," the word is a rasp, caught in my throat as I drop to my knees. Mouse pushes past me, barreling through the sand until he stands over her small broken form, his beak gently pushing into the crook of her neck as if he could shake her into consciousness.

His whimpers join Misty's and I force myself to drag myself across the sand until I am kneeling beside her, my eyes blurring with tears. "Fe- Felicity," my voice breaks as I take in her disfigured eye socket and broken skin, causing tears of blood to run down her cheek. For a moment I didnt know how to breathe. I couldn't think. "Don't so this to me," I say on a strangled breath as I slip an arm under her shoulder and pull her close to my chest, cradling the back of her head with one hand as the other tightens around her.

"Please," I whisper into her ear as I feel the world shift beneath me. "You don't get to do this to me! You don't get to make me let you in! You dont get to make me care about you and feel accepted by you only to leave me alone." There was frustration interlaced with pain in my voice as the tears began to spill down my cheek. "Its not fair. I- Come back. Come back to me." I beg as I bury my head in her shoulder. "Please."

I had known from the moment I had started to let the masks slip around her that it was a mistake. I had known from the moment I had accepted that she accepted me for everything that I was that it was a mistake to tread that line towards friendship and something more. I had known that it would end up like this, with one of us dead. But I was a fool, and the temptation of everything that she could have offered me had been too much for me to turn down. And I was selfish because I had wanted all of it from her and more.

My eyes close as a shudder runs through my body. "Thank you," I murmur into her blood stained hair as I press a kiss to her temple. I pull back, wiping away the tears of blood and brushing the hair from her face gently. "Thank you for accepting me. Tha- thank you for being my friend."

I lay her bak onto the sand, as I lay beside her grabbing her hand and holding it across her chest as I study her face. "I was a shitty friend, but you already knew that, " I say with a small grin as Mouse and Misty close in around us, sweeping their wings over us to shield us away from the rest of the world.

Viktor presses into the space between our bodies, clinging to Felicity. I watch him for a moment. "Tell your old man good things about me, ok?" my teeth snag my lower lip and my hand squeezes hers tighter. "Wouldn't want him to think I you were totally obsessed with an asshole," I tease lightly as I giver her hand another squeeze, using my free hand to ruffle Viktor head a little.
