10th Games - IC Timeline & Mandate Breakdowns

PRE-GAMES
Reapings happen as usual, selecting two tribs from each district. They are each escorted to the Capitol via passenger train.

Tributes are brought to an undisclosed secret location where they are kept in individual rooms for the night.

The next morning, one at a time, they have their interviews with Harlan Godfrey.

EXHIBIT:
Once interviews have wrapped, tributes will be escorted to the Tribute Exhibit, a large exhibit similar to what an animal might be given in a zoo. Tributes will be kept in this exhibit for two days with no food or drinkable water. During this time, Capitolite fans can come and view the tributes. Tributes who attempt to escape will find that the fences are all electrified.

Within this exhibit, there will be three features: the tire swing, climbing wall, and pond.

In an optional new Sponsorship Showcase, once per tribute, a tribute may write themselves interacting with any one of these features and rolling a d20. The resulting roll will reflect how successful the tribute's interaction is with the feature of their choice.

More successful interactions will be given access to a wider variety of sponsored items when the games start. This is not a formal event in which the tributes are aware they are being judged in-character. Those who choose not to partake will automatically be assigned the lowest tier in sponsorship.


TWIST + GAMES BEGIN:
After two days in the tribute exhibit, the Quell Twist is announced to the tributes and to all of Panem: This year, rather than placing the tributes into the coliseum which was destroyed and rebuilt last year, a new setting has been chosen instead.

The floor of the exhibit will open, dropping the tributes into the sewers far below. Each tribute will take damage because of the fall.

The games will take place below-ground, recorded as a 24-hour television show, rather than a live spectacle.

MANDATES:

Day One:

4 Mandates. (6 tributes each) / 2 deaths in each fight. This will reduce us to 16 tributes for Day 2.

Day Two:

4 Mandates. (4 tributes each) / 2 deaths in each fight. This will reduce us to 8 tributes for Day 3.

Day Three/Top Eight:

A refined version of the randomized system used in the last games, reflavoured as a mutt horde being released on the tributes

ON DAY THREE: the GMs will release a horde of mutts on the tributes and tell them that an exit has been opened, but that it is a race and the doors will close for those who are not quick enough.

Each round, tributes will take 5 damage from the mutts, and roll a 1d100, with an increasingly difficult threshold as the rounds go on. (10 for Round 1, 20 for Round 2, 30 for Round 3, 40 for Round 4, 50 from Round 5 onward.)


As well, each time a tribute rolls, they'll add that number to their total distance traveled. (ie if I roll a 12 round one and a 30 round two, my total would be 12 +30=42 at that point.) After the round in which a tribute (or several tributes) reaches 200, the doors will close, sealing everyone else inside with the mutts to die. 

☢︎ If only one tribute reaches 200 and escapes, they are the winner.


☢︎ If more than one tribute reaches 200 and escapes in the same round, they'll fight each other in combat to determine the winner.


☢︎ If no tributes reaches 200 and makes it to the threshold before they all fail their rolls, the last alive tribute in the round will be fished out and "saved" last second like last games' victor Blair Murdoch.

UPDATE TO DAY 1 MANDATES!

hey tributes! 10th retro gm | paxton hayes & i wanted to give you a quick update on the first mandates. our goal throughout the 10th games is to be as transparent as possible for yalls peace of mind.

the 10th games has 18 player tributes instead of the regular 24. with this in mind the most even way to proceed to round one without giving anyone an advantage is to do 4 mandates as planned, but replacing 2 of the npc's with pc's: meaning two of the mandates will only have 1 npc, and two of the mandates will have 2 npc's.

each mandate group needs to be halved to 3 remaining tributes going into day 2. this means that in Mandate 3 and Mandate 4 where there's only 1 npc, 2 written tributes will have to die instead of one.

our plan to make this as fair as we possibly can is to rank those with the HIGHEST starting damage at PC 1, decending. those with higher starting damage should, in theory, be the most likely to be placed in a mandate only requiring 1 PC death.

if your tribute is interested in killing an NPC, please let ems & myself know before day 1 begins (saturday may 3). if more tributes are interested than NPCs available per fight, we will roll for who gets the kill.
