Wake Up Call [Artemis/Sergio]

Artemis is trying to get her bearings, unsure of what would be considered useful for a Games. Thinking back on the movie they watched, and about last year, endurance and stamina seem to be big factors. Kasia took a pretty hard fall and lasted til the end and Lionel almost died in the bloodbath and had had still won in the end. She can’t help but wonder if the Gamemakers are trying to play mind games though, giving the tributes fake information only to pull out the rug from under them. Still though, Artemis decides to try out her hand at the endurance station, hoping to show that even though she may be spry and agile, she can still survive a few good hits.

That’s where she meets one of the small boys from Five. Pale with auburn hair, Artemis can feel the helplessness rolling off him. He looks around at everything like a scared little puppy, and she can’t help but feel a little disgusted by it. She gets that he’s small, but this is a reality for the kids of Panem. Did he expect that he wouldn’t get Reaped? Seems foolish on his end. Now that he’s here, he’s needs to be able to face the reality of the situation, otherwise he’s going to be easy pickings in the bloodbath.

She unsure how to approach the boy, who seems like he would jump out of his skin at anything that spooks him. Artemis decides to walk up to him softly, hoping to show that she doesn’t mean the boy any harm. Even though that could be further from the truth, she finds it better to lull boys and men into a false sense of security before striking. She finds that their egos are so simple, and malleable. It’s almost insulting that they somehow positioned themselves at the top of the power chain. Once she thinks the boy has had enough time to process her presence, Artemis speaks out softly.

“Hey, are you ok?”
